Timor monitors are largely under appreciated in our hobby. It looks like I have a female normal phase (depicted here) and a female blue spot. Hoping I can acquire some males and product captive bred animals. Perhaps access to captive bred offspring will increase their popularity.

Green Tree Python (Morelia viridis). It’s so weird keeping snakes because they rarely eat(compared to monitors). This time of year I’m only feeding them once a month. When we hit winter I won’t offer them food for 3 months.

Violet the ambilobe panther chameleon looking at me suspiciously this morning. These animals are a true joy to keep. I like working with highly adapted species such as chameleons because they will display pretty cool behavior.

Agkistrodon contortrix in situ. I’m very happy to have found my first viperidae in my home state. I found this young individual emerging from a rock crevice mid morning. Seemed very curious and pretty unbothered by us or our cameras.

Another clutch of ackies is hatching out now. They have a much darker coloration than previous clutches. This is very interesting because I only have a pair of adults, so what is causing the variation? It could be genetic crossing over(natural built-in variation mechanism), incubation conditions, condition of female when forming eggs, etc. what do you guys think?

King’s Rock Monitor. Varanus kingorum. I’ve grown this little individual from hatchling. It’s hard to tell when they are mature because of how small they are!

Green tree python appreciation post. I really enjoy looking at them in their natural form. I respect those that prefer the designer look but I’m looking to produce some locality green trees. This is supposed to be a female that I’m slow growing. Can’t wait for genetic testing to be available for them so I don’t have to probe.

The last yellow ackie from Gal’s most recent clutch. I might actually keep this guy/gal as first ever holdback. Once I determine the s*x I’ll be in the market for new blood. Even though inbreeding hasn’t shown any physiological deficits in reptiles, I make sure to avoid it by breeding unrelated animals. As many of you know we can’t get wild caught specimen from Australia so I’m striving for genetic health regardless of phenotypic appearance.

I accidentally got Galadriel with the sprayer this morning. The water sure does make her colors pop though. I still have one of her offspring left if anyone is looking for a juvenile yellow ackie.
