On November 10 we remember Hachikō, the Akita whose devotion became legend. Born in rural Japan, Hachikō would meet his owner, Professor Hidesaburō Ueno, at the Shibuya train station every evening after work. Even after Ueno’s passing, Hachikō returned to the same spot daily, for nearly ten years.

His story touched an entire nation, leading to statues, books, and films celebrating his faithfulness. Hachikō’s calm patience and loyalty exemplify the Akita’s dignified temperament.
