In a very unexpected turn of events, a couple weeks ago we decided to sell our house, and given the current real estate climate, it’s already under contract, so we are going to be out of this house that most of your dogs have visited by the beginning of may. It’s been a real whirlwind and I’m so sorry to anyone I have had to cancel/recommend alternatives. We will still be watching our doggy buddies through mid April, but then sadly our dog sitting business will be taking an extended (maybe permanent) hiatus.

I will miss so many of your pups. I hope we can still have play dates with miss Maddie, Oliver, teddy, rigi-man, lamby, Bella, the phoebes, and so many others that we’ve loved having as temporary parts of our family.

I’m going to deactivate this page since I get a ton of messages from potential new clients and I don’t want to waste their time and efforts, but please don’t hesitate to text me at 973-975-9295 if you ever want to arrange a playdate or anything. We won’t be far, but we won’t have a fenced in yard sadly.

Ah ! Did anyone bring this leash attachment to our house and leave without it? It’s definitely not ours, but I’m confused as to how someone could leave without part of their leash !

Can’t forget the happy ladies we had over here a couple weeks ago in the snow. Poor Ellie seemed too old to be out walking down the stairs in the snow, but she actually loved it ! I think lying in the cold snow must have eased her aches joints.

Quite a lack of posting lately ! Sorry! Still coming up with the game plan for having a newborn this summer, so not actively advertising for new clients, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t still super happy to have our visitors over every week. Mr permanent-puppy Oliver is always a favorite over here.

Whew it’s a full house this week, just like with thanksgiving. So many people traveling for holidays, so so many doggy visitors (all of the golden variety yet again!). The goldens seemed to briefly discriminate against the doodle, but ultimately accepted his “foolish curly poodle hair” (I’m just quoting them of course).

Merry Christmas to all the wonderful families who let their doggies be part of our family throughout this past year. I honestly miss each of them and hope to get more time with them (some of them starting tomorrow 😆). Our family will look a little different starting next June, because we are expecting a baby girl (a human baby girl)! This might complicate the dog sitting in June/July/august, but we will be prioritizing dogs that have stayed over here before whose behavior we are most familiar with and comfortable with, and who are already comfortable being here so hopefully a crying baby won’t spook them too much. Things will be relatively normal through the springtime !

Whew. It was one of those weekends where lots of people with dogs I love and know are agreeable and friendly reached out for quick visits, so we ended up with a whole bunch of happy chaos. Now back to some calm normalcy with just sully and one buddy, apparently his long lost twin, teddy. (Sleeping with five dogs in my room is quite entertaining, can’t believe my parents did that with our five goldens for so long !)

Busy and fun week for the thanksgiving crew. We try not to overlap more than 2 dogs typically, but on the rare days where more overlap, it’s so nice to see dogs making new friends. We always make sure everyone is friendly and social before any overlapping. Some dogs just want to be alone with sully and that’s a-ok too! Puppy phoebe is always happy to be the life of the party though (despite the skeptical look from Odie). Doodle boy Maverick went from being unsure of the crowd to totally copying how each of the other dogs played. So cute to see his confidence grow.

Some food for thought at Christmas time. I know these are always quick and easy to grab to give your pups a Christmas treat, but there are better options.

Please do not buy. Throw them away if your dog gets one as a gift. Giving rawhide to a dog is never a good idea.

Many of these so called treats end up with the dog "enjoying" some time in a veterinary surgery over Christmas. The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China.

The chews are made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulfide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell.

Now comes the pretty festive colors and the glue to form cute shapes. On testing, these chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium and formaldehyde.

If that wasn't bad enough, they regularly cause intestinal blockages, poisoning from chemical residue and choking. The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog.

We are away for the week ! Just a heads up to anyone reaching out and getting a slow response. We are missing sully terribly while we are away, so here is a pretty photo we took on a walk last week 🙂

She may not get along with any other dogs, but she is pretty wonderful to my boys. Loving miss Maddie every time she graces us with her presence.
