🐣 CHICK SEASON UPDATE – HOW IT WORKS NOW! 🐣

We know there’s been some confusion, so here’s the deal:

✅ If you pre-ordered chicks, you’re all set! Your chicks will be ready for pickup on your scheduled date (barring any hatchery issues).

🐥 Moving Forward – First-Come, First-Serve
• Pre-orders are closed, but chicks are still coming in weekly!
• Any extras (after pre-orders are picked up) will be available on Tuesdays for first-come, first-serve sales.

📅 Chick Calendar = Our Hatchery Schedule
• The calendar shows what we are expecting to arrive, not what will be available to purchase.
• Some breeds might sell out completely through pre-orders, meaning there won’t be extras.

🚨 March Chicks Are Sold Out!
• If we have any extras, they will go out for first-come, first-serve on the following Tuesday after pickup day.

🐣 Looking ahead – April chicks are coming!
• We do have some April chicks that will be available for first-come, first-serve.
• Once March chick madness slows down, availability should be better!

Moral of the story: Check in on Tuesdays to see what’s in stock! Once they’re gone, they’re gone!

Hey, chick fans! 🐣 We’re officially switching to first-come, first-serve for all our chick arrivals. That means no more pre-orders—just good old-fashioned chick shopping!

✅ Check our Chick Arrival Calendar for expected delivery dates and breeds.
✅ Tuesdays = Inventory Updates on what’s actually in-store after pre-sold pickups.
✅ Chicks arrive Fridays, with pickups happening Saturday & Monday.

📢 Chick Pre-Order Update

If you were affected by the February chick shipment cancellations, you should have received an email with your password to access early pre-orders for April chicks.

🔑 If you have not received your password, please reach out to us as soon as possible so we can get it to you.

📅 Early access orders must be placed by March 5. After that, all chicks will be first come, first serve in-store only.

🚨 Website Update: After March 5, our website will be back up, but it will only include our regular inventory—chicks will no longer be available for online pre-order.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to take a moment to check in, say THANK YOU, and be real for a second. If you’ve been a customer with us for years, you know this chick season has been a little chaotic, and that’s not the norm for us. I was out of town last week on a long-planned (as in years in the making) family trip to Disneyland, and while the timing wasn’t ideal, I did my best to keep up with social media, the website, and messages. But running a business while trying to be present for my family? Whew, it’s a juggling act.

First and foremost, I want to give the BIGGEST shoutout to my incredible staff. They are truly the backbone of this business, and without them, none of this would be possible. They have worked tirelessly, fielded questions, handled orders, and kept things running while I was away. Through every hiccup and unexpected challenge, they showed up and kept the store going with the same dedication and care that makes Country Junction what it is. I am beyond grateful for them. Seriously, they are THE BEST.

I also want to take a second to apologize if responses were slower than usual or if things didn’t run as smoothly as we all like them to. We appreciate every single one of you for your patience and understanding. This season has had its challenges, but please know we are working hard every single day to keep things moving forward.

That being said, let me make this loud and clear—we are STILL HERE. We are STILL DOING CHICKS. We are NOT closing anytime soon. Things may have been a little bumpy, but we’re getting back on track, and we are so grateful for our incredible customers who stick with us through it all.

Good Morning.

Hey Everyone as a reminder we keep the chicks for 24 hours its in our chick policy. We do it to make sure everyone is looking healthy and everything looks right so when people showed up yesterday here at Rathdrum and took their chicks they received the wrong one's due to labels being backwards on the brooder boxes. SO when I got here and noticed I am now calling the people to return them. You received a message saying ready for pick up but I also called everyone to schedule a pick up time for Friday or Saturday. We will now be refusing all pick ups earlier than 24 hours period. So when Kylee calls from Otis Location today please do not show up to pick up your chicks. She will call you to schedule a pick up time. Thank you every one for patients.

This is Jenny the Manager at the Rathdrum Location and I just wanted to get on here and say thank you to the many people I called at both locations that showed me kindness during the phone calls to you to unfortunately give you bad news about your chick orders being cancelled from the hatchery. I honestly cant thank you enough for your graciousness and understanding during all of this. Kim is working hard at getting the codes and everything set up for you guys to get access to our website so you will see that by the end of the week. 🐥 An Important Chick Update 🐥

First, we want to thank you all for your patience and understanding. We know this chick season has not gone as planned, and we completely understand how frustrating this has been. Unfortunately, due to unexpected cancellations from the hatchery, some of our February chick shipments did not arrive as scheduled. This was beyond our control, and we’ve been working hard to find the best way forward.

Here’s what we are doing to make it right:

✅ Customers whose February chick orders were affected will get early access to April pre-orders. We will be sending out a password to those impacted so they can order first.

✅ All remaining April chicks will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis in-store. After this pre-order round, we will be transitioning to in-store purchases only to prevent future issues.

We also understand that many of you were hoping to pre-order April chicks, and we know this change may be disappointing. We truly appreciate your patience as we work through these challenges and do our best to create a fair system moving forward.

🐝 Honey Bee Pre-Orders Still Open! 🐝
While we work through these chick updates, honey bee pre-orders are still available! You can pre-order bees in-store or over the phone while supplies last.

🚨 Website Maintenance Notice 🚨
To update our chick inventory and ensure everything is correct moving forward, our website will be temporarily closed starting Tuesday, 2/27, and should be back up by 3/5. We appreciate your patience as we make these updates!

Unfortunately we received these emails for the orders on 2/14 and 2/22. We will be calling all of you at both locations to refund your orders on these dates. I spoke with them to try to get a later hatch date on these breeds or replacements with no success. They assured me that orders for 3/1are shipping this week. We want to apologize for the inconvenience this has caused everyone.

🚨 Chick Order Delays & Hoover’s Hatchery Issues 🚨

We want to be completely upfront with our customers about what’s going on with our chick orders.

For nearly 10 years, we worked with Privett Hatchery and never had major issues. In 2023, Hoover’s Hatchery acquired Privett, and while things still ran smoothly last year, that has not been the case for 2025.

We placed our entire season’s chick order back in November 2024, expecting the same reliability we’ve had in the past. Instead, we’ve been met with weeks of delays, zero proactive communication, and endless frustration.

Here’s the situation:
🐣 Chicks from last week were supposed to ship on 2/18—they did not ship.
🐣 Chicks scheduled to ship on 2/19 also did not ship.
🐣 We had to call Hoover’s this morning (2/20) to get answers and were told the post office placed an embargo on their shipping due to weather.
🐣 At no point did Hoover’s reach out to inform us—if we hadn’t called, we wouldn’t have known.

This has been incredibly frustrating as we plan, pay for, and staff for these orders, only to be left in the dark.

What happens next?
📞 We will be calling everyone with chick orders from last week and this week to explain the situation and offer a refund if needed.
🐥 Next week, we are scheduled to receive six shipments (three per store), and we will keep everyone updated as we get more information.
🔍 We are also actively looking into additional hatchery options to make sure we have chicks available for customers.

We appreciate your patience and support as we navigate these challenges. As always, we are committed to making sure you get your birds, and we will update you as soon as we know more.

🚨 Chick Update: A Series of Unfortunate Events 🚨

Update: We finally got in touch with the hatchery, and it turns out the chicks never shipped at all. We weren’t given much explanation, but they are sending replacements next week

Well, folks… this is not the update we wanted to give. Our first batch of chicks did not arrive yesterday as scheduled, and at this point, we don’t have any tracking info to confirm if they’ve even shipped. We’ve called, emailed, and spent far too much time on hold, but so far, no answers from the hatchery.

This is not an issue with the time of year. We’ve been doing this for over 7 years, and this is the first season where all orders are being handled through Hoover Hatchery, which took over our usual hatchery in 2023. We know they’ve been slammed this year and even shut down their direct-to-consumer sales, so things are a bit chaotic on their end.

We know this is frustrating, and trust us—we are just as eager to get those fluffy little peepers in as you are. We’ll update as soon as we have anything concrete to share. We appreciate your patience while we try to track these chicks down!

Thank you for sticking with us. We know this isn’t the news you were hoping for, but we’re doing everything we can to get answers. Stay tuned!
