I don’t even know where to start… my hands are shaking.
Today, I had to say goodbye to my closest companion.
For weeks I could see him getting tired. There was a heaviness in his eyes, a quiet exhaustion… yet he still tried to stay close to me. He’d gently rest his head on my hand, follow me slowly from room to room—like he always wanted me to know he was there. 🐾
Today the vet told me it was time, and something inside me just broke. I held his paw, and he gently leaned his head on my hand, just like he always did when he wanted comfort. I kept telling him how much I loved him, how important he was to me. I just hope he knew. I hope he felt safe. 💔
Watching him slip away was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
The house feels unbearably quiet now. I keep expecting to hear his footsteps, or see him sitting by the door like he always did. The emptiness is overwhelming.
He wasn’t “just a dog.”
He was my routine, my comfort, my quiet strength—the presence that made even the hardest days feel a little lighter.
