Swarming season is upon us. As the overwintering period ends, chances for swarming behavior in honey bee colonies increase between spring and early summer. Are you prepared for what to do if you encounter a swarm this year? If you see a swarm in the Northern Virginia area, call us right away. Swarms are often on the move. They can rest for a few minutes, a few hours, or a few days as they seek a suitable place to build a home. We'll get them setup in a sustainable hive that will allow the bees to thrive!

On 16 April 2003, Queen Elizabeth and her husband were quite amused and shared a laugh together at the sight of a swarm of honey bees causing quite a stir amid guests on the lawn of Windsor Castle. Honey bee swarms are quite docile, though they can be quite startling if one descends in your vicinity.
