As the temperature drops, it’s easy to assume that heartworm and flea prevention for your pets can take a back seat. However, these pesky parasites don’t hibernate in the winter, and they can still pose a threat to your beloved fur babies. ♥️🦟

Here’s why winter prevention is crucial:
1️⃣ Heartworms Don’t Hibernate: Heartworm-carrying mosquitoes may be less active in the cold, but they’re not gone. Heartworm disease can be devastating, and prevention is the best defense.

2️⃣ Fleas Find Warm Havens: Fleas can infest your home year-round. With the cozy warmth inside, your pets can still fall victim to fleas. Prevention is the key to keeping them itch-free.

Stay consistent, continue your pet’s heartworm and flea prevention regimen throughout the winter. Consistency is key to keeping them safe.

On this Veterans Day, we honor not only the heroes in uniform but also the four-legged companions who served alongside them. Military working dogs have provided loyalty, protection, and service in times of need, just as you have. Their bond with service members is a testament to the strength and courage found in all who serve.

As a veterinary practice dedicated to the well-being of animals, we understand the special role that pets play in the lives of veterans and their families. Whether they offer companionship, emotional support, or assistance, these pets are true heroes in their own right.

To all who have served, and to those who continue to serve, thank you. Your service will never be forgotten. We are honored to serve you and your pets with the same dedication and care that you have shown to our nation.

A question that we are often asked is “how can I tell if my pet is in pain if they cannot tell me?” Pets can be very stoic in how they communicate that they are in pain, so at times they may not show any signs. The most common responses to look for are depression, aggression, limping, resistance to petting or grooming, not eating, panting excessively, and much more. If you have concerns that your pet could be in pain, reach out to us at 614-868-5000.

It’s a busy day at the office but we all took a moment to snack on some (her fav!) and wish her a happy one. You’d never guess how old she is 😉

RVH is honored that we were trusted to care for Juice. She was a special girl and her time was far too short. If you would like to help other dogs like Juice, Three Pits And A Lady is hosting a fundraiser 5K on Saturday, September 14th. Use the link below to register:

THANK YOU to Dr. Joseph Geer and Rosehill Veterinary Hospital for becoming a Three Pits And A Lady 5k Trail Sponsor.

We received a message stating that Dr. Geer wanted to sponsor in memory of Juicy J. You see, Dr. Geer was the only doctor that we believe Juice had ever visited. He removed the massive cancer tumor, he spayed her and he took care of her. She was cantankerous at times but she melted your heart with those eyes of hers. She was the one that tested everyone's patience and abilities. No matter what, she was worth every minute, every tear, every sleepless night. She is missed every single day.

Thank you Dr. Geer and Rosehill - your support is appreciated.
