Tackling Organic Waste - The Shocking Truth Revealed

90 percent of all the organic waste that's produced still goes to the landfill at this stage, so there's a huge amount. I think the other statistic that's scary is that about 50 percent of everything we grow in the world doesn't actually get consumed, it's waste so we've got a lot of catching up to do.

There's been a lot of records that the stuff on the landfill actually goes into water tables and the aquifers. All the gases come up into the air as the Cranbourne housing experience showed people weren't game to light a match outside for the amount of methane that was coming up from the landfill.

Originally I bought some worms thinking that I was going to make money in a buyback scheme, I saw the value of worms and because we're training horses we had quite a lot of horse manure. So I invested about 50 dollars worth of worms probably 15 years ago and had them in a windrow at the back of the stables but had no way of actually distributing them onto my farm.

The Power of Worm Castings with David Davidson

Would this system in be such that you don't have to spray out the cape w**d?

Absolutely, yes so it saves spraying out the little strip or spraying out the whole paddock.

Don't spray at all and you're not turning soil upside down as in ploughing and you're putting it into a protective environment. Because you're putting live microbes in there they're not just going to stay in there they're going to move laterally so you're feeding the whole paddock.

Dribble the worm casting? I think putting the worm casting is better than the worm tea Because you've got more organic stable carbon that's a slow-release fertilizer.
