Our requests for surrenders have increased ten fold, as have our kitten intakes, and, more particularly, our special needs intakes.

This year, we have taken in more special needs cats, or cats needing specialty medical care, than ever before. Many facilities turn these cats away because they are more “difficult”. We welcome them with open arms to give them their best life possible.

Due to the expense of such special kitties, we are dedicating our annual appeal this year to our newly established Tucker’s Fund. Tucker’s Fund, named after our beloved long term special needs resident who sadly passed in September from aggressive liver
lymphoma, will be a fund dedicated solely to treating special needs felines (and canines!) who come into our care. It is our mission to help as many of these special cases as possible, as we are frequently one of the few shelters in our area that does not turn away the critically ill and injured.

The indoor OMHS Ice Fishing Pond is part of the Paws Fur the Holidays event activities on Saturday, November 9, 10-2, Richland Center Community Center.
Check out the Ice fishing spot for some REEL fun, catching something every time you cast your line, for a small fee. Prizes include Beanie Babies, coupons for pizzas, ice cream, and movie passes, and much more!

The 2024 Santa Paws Giving Tree, at Paws Fur the Holiday, November 9, will be full of ornaments that have on them practical gift items (i.e., canned cat or kitten food, cat toys, etc.) that can be bought for the cats at the OMHS Adoption Center. Stop by the tree, take one or more ornaments, buy the gift suggestion, and drop off gift(s) at the Shelter. Event will be at 1050 N. Orange St., Richland Center, WI.

What better way to show your kiddos how much fun it can be to give--and to receive an ornament for your home Christmas tree at the same time?

Sweet Walk donations of favorite holiday treats from any of our OMHS members and friends should be brought in anytime between 8:30 and 10:00 AM on Paws Fur the Holidays, November 9.

Items should be placed on disposable plates/containers and ready to be individually placed in the Sweet Walk boxes--and, if at all "sticky," should be wrapped or bagged individually.

Paws Fur the Holidays is Saturday, November 9, 10 AM-2 PM, at the Richland Center Community Center, 1050 N. Orange St.!

Activities include Sweet Walk, Kid-Friendly Games, a Silent Auction, a Bucket Raffle, a Santa Paws Giving Tree, Dog Games & Competitions, informational tables and booths, a Membership Table, sales tables (where various OMHS items, including OMHS sweatshirts, will be available for purchase), and, of course, the Grant-and-Glorious Food Stand. Plus, Santa Claus will be at the event!
