We don’t typically share things from other trainers, but this is spot on! 👏👏👏

I get asked about potty training ALL the time. I also see folks using potty pads A LOT.

And don't get me wrong, they do have a place... tiny dogs with owners with mobility issues (especially in winter), small dogs who travel a lot who can use a pad anywhere successfully, etc.

But the majority of dogs being "trained" to use potty pads are large breeds who really should be going outside even when they are small, even when it rains, even when it's hot or cold.

Because most of the time these dogs aren't even reliably trained to the pad. This is most often a human issue, not a dog issue. (Although when dogs come from pet stores, BYBs, and puppy mills, you will see a rise in what we call "dirty dogs"-but that's a rant for another day.)

What they are reliably trained to do is p*e and p**p in the house. 💩

Hiring Kennel Assistant for Dog Trainer!

This position could be filled by mutliple individuals, so please do not hesistate to apply if you are only available a few days a week. We need assistance feeding, walking, cleaning, bathing, basic handling, and taking pics and videos. Shifts are available 7 days a week from 10am-noon, 4pm-6pm.

The position requires some amount of physical labor including, but not limited to: walking distances, spending time outdoors in the elements as needed, and spending extended periods of time on your feet. Crawling into crates to clean them and bending over to pick up p**p regularly is a very real part of this job. It's not fancy but it just comes with working with dogs!

This is an entry level opportunity for the right person/people with the potential for advancement and a permanent long term position within a rapidly growing company. If you are interested in learning how to become a trainer, let us know! We do offer an apprenticeship program with the goal of adding to our team long term.

🐾 Pup in training available!🐾Please Share🐾

Hazel is a 6 month old female German Shepherd who has almost finished her training program with us. She’s a sweet and social gal (Keyah approved even!😉) who is learning fast and looking for a family to call her own. We are currently accepting applications for her future family.

All foster pups trained by SFK9 Dog Training learn to sit, down, and climb. They are taught proper leash manners as well as entryway etiquette and general household manners. We set a firm foundation for both house and crate training. Our pups are socialized with strangers, children, other dogs, and even cats on a regular basis. They are exposed to real life situations including riding in cars, going to pet stores, busy public streets, hiking in forest preserves, and so much more. All our trained pups come with training support to help them transition into their new homes and unlimited follow up training to maintain the skills they have learned during their training with us. We stand behind our students and their families for life!
