It is absolutely never to early to start your kids on their journey to horsemanship and groundwork. You will ensure their safety and teach them respect for these magnificent, powerful creatures by having your child learn to communicate in a way the horse understands. We have horses available for ground work lessons as well!

That moment - that moment when the horse decides it’s not 100% sure of accepting you as their leader. And then it happens. They soften to you, and they invite you into their soul. You could give me a gold medal, 27 awards, 53 prizes and it would not fulfill me the way a single moment like this does. What a gift. Even though it was 20 degrees in this video and I had been In the cold for hours, I feel so lucky that I found this feeling of purpose in life.

To create throughness with correct bend when your horse is crooked...
Imagine your crooked horse as a kinked hose. You need to straighten him to get the kinks out and get the water (his energy) flowing. Then you can bend him correctly.—Annie Morris

One training spot still available for February! What a great opportunity to work on all the basics and horsemanship before next show season, fine tune your horse’s skills, and deepen your horse’s understanding of relaxation, fitness, and mechanics.
As always - the horses also get the Best possible care. Husbandry and the horse first ALWAYS. Photo of our beautiful Skye today ❤️

Quite often I hear horses who are not freely forward described as “lazy.” There are a few problems with this :
1- lazy is an anthropomorphic description. Horses don’t care about our ideas of work ethic, or even know what those are. Their priorities are eat, be secure in a herd, look out for danger, and eat. Their priorities are not inside leg to outside rein, they don’t care about doing straight flying changes, and they certainly don’t care that you have a show coming up. The only way they can become invested in your work is if it makes them feel good, as in brings them mental and physical well-being. Otherwise, you can threaten with your leg all you want and inspire fear response, but they aren’t lazy - they just don’t share your priorities.
2- most sluggish horses are extremely tight. Moving forward with a rider on their back is actually double or triple the amount of work that it should or could be. They are moving with a tight back, tight shoulders and weak abs and haunches. Likely the rider is tight as well, and quite likely the rider is not balanced as well as they could be and using reprimanding or nagging aids. This horse is working FAR harder then they need to be.
If a horse’s shoulders are supple, back is free to lift, core is engaged and working without interference, hind legs swinging at optimum range of motion, movement is easy and enjoyable. So your “lazy” horse is far out working a horse with looseness and alignment, because they have to work much harder just to go forward.
Imagine being pulled off your couch, given a 70 lb pack to carry that slips around and isn’t stable, and being asked to move forward through a series of obstacles without being fit or knowing how to position yourself. You aren’t going to be moving very fast either, and someone nagging you to speed up incessantly will probably make you quite resentful.
Something to think about next time you whip out the “L” word; which in my barn is a very very dirty word, along with stubborn ;)

When the training horse comes running to you for his session. It’s so nice to see these horses. Enjoy their job to the point where they are happily coming in with no food motivation to work.❤️
Mounting block training day 2

A little training sesh for this 3yo tennesee walker. What a great little guy. So willing to learn and participate once he understood he could relax and work could be fun!
Oki has already mastered the mounting block training ❤️ love working with this super easy going dude!
Spent quite a bit of time today working on peeling back the layers on this mares trailer issues. We got to finish with this result and i’m thrilled. From tense and flying backwards hitting her head -to walking in calmly, willingly, and staying in the trailer. All in 2 hours split into two sessions. Can’t wait to do it again tomorrow ❤️
Early morning hill work before the heat. When your horses are this shiny, who needs a filter ?? 😍😍 #tributeequinenutrition #fueledbytributeequine
Our beautiful grass arena with a view ❤️ special thanks to my hubby aka the grass specialist lol thoroughly enjoyed a ride up there this evening
Brittany and Mama jumping in a double jointed snaffle. This older Zangersheide mare did the upper level jumpers most of her career before having a quieter life. From the evidence gathered, it’s somewhat apparent that big mama was strong and bitted up. So learning to be soft, relaxed, and understand the mechanics of her body has really been our goal! old muscle memory can be hard to change but when you put in the work it’s amazing what you get back!
Kim and Skye were just effortless today at their show! We worked on making a few changes in between and they really stepped it up! Catherine rode Quinn like a pro in the jumpers shortly after. The confidence they exhibited and the improvements they also made were what makes this all worth it for me as a trainer! As a trainer, I am so PROUD to watch my horses look amazing, the relaxation by the trailer and ringside for our horses , to be in simple equipment and bits, have proper flat work, and have riders and horses who exhibit good horsemanship! a true pleasure and the cherry on top for me as I watch it all come together in the show ring. You ladies make this a joy for me ❤️
