Farrier Day!

The air was chilly but the sun was warm, so we had him trim at the hitching post. The horses all did good, but Misha took the top spot today! She stood perfectly AND her hooves are in the best shape we've ever seen them! Congrats Misha!

Every barn needs great micers. We have 7 cats total hunting on the property to keep the mice population in the barns at bay- 5 in the upper barn and 2 in the lower. These two are everyone's favorites in the upper barn taking a much earned cat nap. Thank you to Boots, Mufasa, Artemis, Apollo, Fat Female, Noodle, and Kitt!

Summer is still in full swing but these sunny days are perfect for drying & rewaterproofing blankets after the laundromat so they will be ready for this winter.

We have a winner! Donkey took the top spot today! He absolutely adores our farrier (just not anyone else)

Today's winner was an easy choice! The warm sun, strong winds, and last night's weather has all of the horses feeling their oats today. Only Misha kept it together perfectly for the farrier. Congrats on the win!

Farrier Day!

It was a close one today! The overall winner was Silver (left) and most improved was Alfalfa (right). All 8 equines did great though!

Stay safe on the roads out there. The trek from our home to the upper barn on foot is hard enough. We are checking in on the horses every 4 hours and hoping to give some free time in the indoor arena to each horse this afternoon to stretch their legs.

Today was farrier day and we had a major upset! Misha took the top spot today! I just love this boarder and how far her owner has brought her. Doc would've been 2nd but was DQ'd due to him getting sprayed by a skunk last night and burning the eyes of both farrier & holder this morning.

These training poles are a little more rider friendly, but I still think having to get off to reset the other style definitely makes you work harder to not hit them.

Post-storm turnout

Donkey and Jiggy were extra sassy this morning

Gibbs was a tad impatient but very entertaining while waiting for his breakfast this morning. He could hear Dandy slopping up his mash and wanted some too.

Some of the horses were eager to go out this morning into the big pasture. Donkey on the other hand struggled a bit navigating the ice/snow due to being lighter.

We got a new toy- a Pivo Red- so Kaiti & I tried it out this evening to see how it'd handle 2 working horses. It definitely favors a darker horse or a faster moving horse. It did great though considering I am still working on choosing the best settings! Here is a sped up video from our 55 min ride to show how it tracked. I can't wait to try it in the outdoor & use the automatic zoom features.
