*** Adopted on 11-12-24! TY!!!!

Still there, now on euth for 10-12-24

Poor Downy is back on the euth list for 11-10-24

11-1-24 RETURNED right away and shelter is extending deadline to give poor Downey a chance!

We will update with more information ïżŒ
Downey was adopted, only to be returned less than a few hours later. Downey is on bite quarantine until 11/9 for biting an adult citizen’s hand who was trying to be her in a vehicle. The shelter realized it was a poor adoption and is giving Downy a chance to find a home!

*** ADOPTED!! on 10-31-24

Last call for sweet DOWNEY A2281871 she is on the euth list for 11-13-24

In since March 26th she is a 43 pound spayed 3 year old. She came to the gate to greet me with relaxed posture and a wagging tail, gently sniffing my hand and taking treats. She is very stressed out and would like to find her home. She is GREAT outside the kennel. Who can blame her! Read all these great notes. She is a petite gal!

Downey is a sweet girl and has a lot of energy! She did well in the car and we took her to a nearby park. Once out of the car, we took her by the leash and jogged with her in the shade for some exercise and she stayed by and did not run ahead. After taking a break and drinking water, she explored along a fence. She took treats gently and responded to the sit command well. We brought out a toy and noticed a strong guarding focus so we took it away from her the rest of the outing. Since it was getting hot out we brought her over to the dog water fountain and wet her down—she really enjoyed it and wasn’t afraid of the water.
10/15/24 14:40 Foster Note: Downey is a sweet, energetic dog who loves to play with toys and enjoy the hose. At the park, she prefers to explore on her own, sniffing around and occasionally playing fetch. While she can be selective around more assertive dogs and sometimes shows food protection, she generally gets along well. She did great in the car alongside our dog and cat during car rides. She behaved exceptionally well, didn’t bark, and loved to sniff and explore stops. At our family’s house, she also did well and got along with the other dogs. Downey enjoys going for walks and playing with toys, although she can be protective of them at times. She enjoys being in the pool where she can stand and loves to see her own reflection. She is crate trained and loves to sleep on her blanket. A very cuddly girl, she gets excited when she sees us, loves pets but also likes to explore on her own. Fun fact about Downey, she is scared of barking and water bottles but not of the leaf blower or hair dryer. She is mostly house trained and learns more every day with a routine. Downey is a wonderful dog who will surely bring joy and adventure to your life. We feel she would do best in a house as solo companion and with older children.

Downey is a 3-year-old spayed Pittie mix who came who was surrendered to PRC late March due to not having enough time for her. She is about 40 pound and heartworm negative. She has done well interacting with staff and volunteers at the shelter.

she was surrendered to us by her owner who worked long hours and didn't have the necessary time for her and the other dog in the house not getting along with her. She is potty trained and crate trained. She has done great around all adults has never been around young kids. She did well in the house with the other dogs she just does tend to jump to play. She does like to be left alone when it comes to eating so there is some slight food aggression. Her owner stated he does believe she might have some visual impairments as she tends to run into things but she is a super sweet, high energy dog who loves toys and wants all the attention and love. She does have an allergy to chicken and does jump up o.

Our staff unfortunately has been noticing elevating FAS related behaviors such as pacing, high pitched barking/whining, and excessive panting when observed in her kennel. She is gentle/dainty tolerant in playgroup, allowing greetings though still a bit stiff though gives good corrections. We are hoping to find Downey placement soon that can help her decompress outside of the shelter environment! If you are able to assist, please let us know as soon as possible!

08/14/24 11:49 Adventure Tail Note: Downey is a sweet girl and has a lot of energy!

We practiced walking in a straight line and she listened well to input. There were squirrels off in the distance and she observed but didn’t react. A person walked by with a dog and Downey observed and showed interest but didn’t bark or lunge, and with quick correction she settled. She did appear slightly nervous and would calm down with a mozzarella stick treat. We left the park and went to get takeaway lunch and while we waited in our parked car, people would walk right by and Downey did not bark, just observed. She did bark once when tried to reach for a treat she didn't eat and she did give warning. She may do best in a mature household that can provide her support and training! Overall, Downey loves to be pet and loves attention. When settled and calm she is playful and likes belly rubs!

08/26/24 15:49 Downey was easy to leash at her kennel and had no issues on the way to the yard. In the yard she ran towards the citizens (2 adult females) but did not solicit for attention. She sniffed around but did not approach either the staff or the citizens. The staff through toys for her to which she chased and play with. When the citizens tried to take the toy from her she tensed up and attempted to nip the citizen on the hand, no contact was made. She then took the toy and retreated to the other side of the yard. When the staff tried to take the toy out of her mouth she tensed up and would not allow the staff to take it from her. She was easy to return to her kennel.

08/08/24 15:50 Downey had a meet and greet with 1 adult (F) and 1 child (M). She was easy to leash and walked with a pull to the yard. Once in the yard she ran around with the zoomies. There was a small ball in the corner that she became fixated, and did growl once when the staff member attempted to take the ball from her. She accepted a trade for a treat, and once the ball was removed she allowed pets from everyone in the yard. Walked back to the kennel with a pull, easy to unleash.

08/02/24 13:56 Downey had a meet and greet with 2 adults (1M/1F). She was easy to leash and walked with a pull to the yard. Once in the yard she ran right for the toys, and began to attempt to hide them/keep them away from staff. She did allow the staff to take away the toys however when they were thrown into the other yard she became hyper fixated on getting into the other yard. She did not solicit pets but allowed them. High energy ran around the yard. Walked with a pull back to the kennel. Easy to put in and unleash.

07/20/24 Per volunteer: Downey was jumping at kennel door but easy to leash with a slight pull to the yard. She immediately played with toys. She jumped in the pool after a ball. She is treat motivated and solicited for pets. She had her tail wagging when going back to the kennel and was easy to unleash.

07/08/24 19:37 on 6/24/24 per volunteer Downey (A2281871) leashed easily, walking calmly to the yard, ignoring dogs. She did well on sit/stay and recall, taking treats gently. We played fetch with several toys; then she laid under the bench resting and quietly playing with a toy. We then walked to the garden; where she played and explored, coming back quickly whenever recalled. She walked well back to her kennel.

06/21/24 per volunteer, Downey was easy to leash and walked to play yard with no interactions. Pretty independently cruised around the yard with toy. She was slightly toy aggressive and was not really interested in human interaction.

05/26/24 10:23 on 5/23/24 per volunteer Downey (A2281871) was easy to leash and walk to the yard, calmly passing dogs. She was very playful, chasing toys, getting pets and gently taking treats. She appeared to maneuver well around objects, showing no vision issues. She sat well in training and was easy to recall; showing potential to do well in further training. She was very curious in the garden, exploring all over, sniffing among the rocks and swimming in the waterfall. She was easy to leash and return to her kennel after a sort walk in the lot.

05/02/24 15:40 Per volunteer: Downey was very easy to leash and walk to the yard. She stayed close to me and solicited for attention and pets. She played with a ball in the yard.

04/12/24 Per volunteer: Downey walked well on leash. She didn't show interest in other dogs when walking through the kennels. Downey played with the squeaky toys. She solicited for attention and allowed petting all over. She knows "sit”

RIP Corbett. We are so sorry you were failed!

LAST CALL! Corbett is on euth for 11-5-24 please keep sharing!

What a sweet boy! He sure didn’t have a good life!!!!

The finder said he was a good boy and housebroken. He was also good so far in play group. 23-OCT-24 - GENTLE DAINTY - GD/SE stiff, good corrections, needs to meet males. Let’s get this guy a home!!!

These are his euth notes:
" 10/29/24 15:54 Corbett is declining incredibly fast at the shelter. Corbett has been at the shelter since 9/21/24 and started to
develop kennel stress. He has shown to be difficult to handle with leash biting, muzzle punching the fence, lunging at the gate and
growling.. Corbett’s kennel stress is so high that he started to harm himself and bleeding from his paws due to the stress and
reactivity in the kennel. Once out of the kennel, he allows handling and petting. He is categorized as selective with other dogs
because he can be very stiff when doing greetings. PRC does not have the resources to help Corbett. If no commitment by November
5, COB, humane euthanasia will be authorized"

The shelter plea says Look “Corbett is a 4-year-old neutered male who came to PRC late-September as a stray. He is about 55 pounds and heartworm negative. Upon intake, he was comfortable with the finder but defensive with staff, warming up after treats. Unfortunately, he is experiencing very high kennel stress in the shelter environment with behaviors including leash biting coming out of the kennel, stiff posture at the gate, and growling noted. Today, staff have noted him bleeding from his paws, likely due to wounds sustained relating to kennel stress behaviors. In playgroup, Corbett is gentle/dainty selective, stiff but gives good corrections and needs to be introduced to males. We are hoping to find urgent placement for Corbett at this time”
