So much fun at GHP this afternoon! Cristina, Piper, and Ava did a mixture of diciplines this afternoon. We had one try jumping for the first time, one finally nail those leads on her barrels, and one try jumping for the second time!!! So proud and love these kids! Now probably won’t have a voice tomorrow trying to shout over the wind 😤😆

What fun lessons last night!!! So many proud moments.

Ava and Autumn FINALLY nailed their lead going to their second barrel 💪🏼💪🏼

Piper and Piper got to try jumping together for the first time! Piper (🐴) gave Piper (👩🏼) sass and she stuck through it! 😆

Been a long time since we’ve had one of these set up here! 😆

Energy matters with horses.

High energy, low energy, nervous energy, good energy, bad energy; the horse recognizes and feeds off it.

Learn to control your energy if you want to help your horse be successful and confident. Learn to control your emotions if you want to learn to control your energy.

Controlling your energy will help make you a better horseman… it will likely help you with many things outside of the arena too.

Piper is 14 today!

Since she’s an OG of mine, of course we had to go back to our good old days and do a little matching pad and polo moment lol.

I’m so used to the hustle and bustle of running around with lessons and stuff, this horrible weather has me needing to feel SOMETHING 😆

Everyone got blankets off and a good curry, Hooves picked & polished, fresh shavings, and manes detangled.

Heavy blankets back on, and a hay delivery ✅

(Not pictured is Dazzle who decided she wanted nothing to do with the spa day, but instead was hunting for non existent grass 🤦🏻‍♀️)

You will never outperform your own self image.

If you talk poorly about yourself and your abilities, you are only making your starting point further away from where you want to be.

The most important thing you can have for your horse is to have confidence in yourself. Pure confidence means knowing that you are absolutely capable of doing what you need to do to create a desirable outcome.

This is the kind of unshakable confidence that can only come through experience. You have to do the things that are uncomfortable so that, one day, the uncomfortable things become part of your comfort zone.

To help your horse become lighter in front ...

Imagine your horse’s haunches and forehand as sprocket wheels inside a machine. Your leg and seat control the back sprocket wheel, which turns and brings the hind end under. Your hand controls the front one, which keeps the front end aligned with the hind end, creating energy into the bridle. The horse lifts his front end by shifting weight rearward through his whole body; that’s what makes him lighten in front.

Piper & Piper braved the rain yesterday early morning! We set the poles out and practiced our jumping position over them, and then also practicing having Piper wait for Pipers cues and be a little more patient (which is hard for her 😆)
