It's National Adopt a Senior Dog Month!

Now, I know heading into the holidays, it seems all about the new puppies and kitties. All that cuteness, their small bodies wiggling with joy, getting to help guide them through their milestones. It's hard to resist!

But let me tell you, there is no greater blessing than to have the privilege to love an older dog into their golden years.

About 10 years ago, I met my soul dog: Duke. He was a 7 year old lab/pittie mix, and was supposed to have a new family, but they stopped returning calls from the rescue. His foster family went home, thinking he was adopted. But that new family never came back. I talked to my husband and we agreed to foster him, just for a few days until they could place him again. But once he came home, it was clear to me that I couldn't let him go back. He belonged in our family. Sadly, he crossed the rainbow bridge in 2019. His dog tag is still on my keychain.

If you have room in your heart, please consider an older pet. Usually they're surrendered for the silliest of reasons. But, somehow, it feels as though they recognize they get a second chance at life with you, and their love is like no other.

Today is National Cat day!

In 2005, Colleen Paige, an animal welfare advocate, founded National Cat Day. It was created celebrate the bond between humans and cats and to raise awareness about the millions of cats in need of loving homes.

Our own cat journey began in 2019 when we adopted three cats, Snuggles, Silver and Percy from Fort Worth Animal Care & Control. They have been wonderful companions and bring so much joy into our home!

Even though today is called out especially for cats, we believe every day is a great day to celebrate ALL the little creatures that come into our lives and make it better!

We'll be here from 4-8 pm tonight with some for your furry babies!

Come out and see us and enjoy a petting zoo, axe throwing, bounce houses and wonderful vendor friends of ours! There is also some delicious food at the at the . (Don't ask how we know 😜)

Tomorrow, we'll be at the Argyle Trunk or Treat hosted by the fine men and women of the Argyle Police Department! It's a pet friendly event and we will be handing out candy for humans and treats for dogs.

We're so excited for this weekend and can't wait to see you all!

We have a bunch of goodies, including some new holiday items that will keep your furry friends healthy and happy! Now, since you know where we are, let me explain WHY we're here: We believe that every living thing deserves love, compassion, and to feel safe and wanted. Animals and humans alike. That's where the Hope Squad comes in. The @nthchope Hope Squad is a peer to peer mental health awareness program that teaches teens to look out for signs of distress in their friends and classmates. They offer hope and support to those struggling students while working to connect them with professionals who can take their healing to the next level.
