Today, deputies responded to attempt contact with a subject for whom they had probable cause to arrest, stemming from an incident last week. The subject also had an outstanding felony warrant.

During the incident, multiple announcements were made for the suspect to exit the apartment he was located in, but he refused. While deputies applied for a search warrant to search for the suspect, K9 Asher was deployed.

After announcements from the handler and some barking from K9 Asher, the suspect exited and surrendered without incident.

Well done, K9 Asher. Congratulations on your first apprehension!

Yesterday was a big day for the Thurston County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit, as K9 Manny and K9 Asher both obtained certification. They will now undergo two weeks of scenario-based training to better prepare them for fieldwork, during which time they remain available for calls. K9 Isa and K9 Mac go two for two tonight!

Earlier tonight south county deputies respond to a burglary in progress where the suspect was heard inside on the cameras. The suspect had a protection order prohibiting him from being at the residence. Deputies arrived and surrounded the residence. The suspect refused to come out and a search warrant was obtained. K9 Mac and deputies made entry inside the residence and K9 Mac located the suspect trying to hide under clothing.

As units were clearing the burglary scene, we were advised WSP was in pursuit northbound on I5. The vehicle was located unoccupied in Tumwater. K9 Isa and her handler responded to track for the occupant. After nearly a mile half long track through thick brush K9 Isa located the suspect hiding.

Earlier tonight OPD attempted to stop a stolen vehicle. The vehicle briefly stopped before fleeing from OPD. A TCSO Sergeant was in the area at the time and located the stolen vehicle. The vehicle fled from our Sergeant and a pursuit was initiated. WSP Smokey was also overhead assisting from the sky.

Our Sergeant pursued the vehicle until K9 Mac and his handler were able to catch up at which point he was able to deploy his Grappler from his vehicle. The Grappler successfully brought the pursuit to a stop. The driver attempted to flee on foot from the stolen vehicle but was quickly taken into custody by K9 Mac and deputies.

K9 Igo, master of hide and seek! 🔥

This evening, a Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a reckless driver who refused to pull over, leading to a pursuit. The suspect lost control of the vehicle and spun out on the roadway. The Deputy used his vehicle to pin the suspect's car, effectively disabling it. The suspect then fled on foot. K9 Igo was called out from home to attempt a K9 track. K9 Igo tracked the suspect to a nearby retention pond, where the suspect refused to surrender. In the end, K9 Igo located the suspect and took him into custody. Excellent work, TCSO!
