I made E ride Fritz for this week’s lesson. She prefers Dagda, but Fritz needed the exercise.

E is rocking this year! She has come so far this year and I think this was her first time cantering without stirrups!

Miss Oona is coming back into work after a couple months off post-summer camp. She’s much slower and more settled, and we’re looking forward to shows this winter!

Dagda got to show off his stature again at the Skyreach dressage show. It was E’s first show (aside from endurance riding), and she got to bring home fourth and the tallest horse award.

Fritz worked SO HARD this weekend at the Area VII young riders derby in Tenino. He decided to give just enough effort to avoid knocking anything over. Good job, S, keeping him going!

How massage helps your horse:

Have you ever sat all day or stood still for a long time, and found when you went to get up or move you’re so stiff you hobble a few steps before getting into stride? Have you ever done a great workout at the gym and been sore the next day?
Your horse is no different. Nowadays, a lot of horses stand in stalls for long periods of time, and even in turnout they will stand around quite a bit of the day. We then take them out, ride them, and expect them to perform at levels we wouldn’t expect from ourselves in a workout, sometimes asking them to work hard several days in a row.
Massage can help with both these scenarios. In the first, it can loosen and relax the tissue, providing relief to stiffened muscles.
As to the second, massage can help your horse recover more quickly from work, mitigate imbalances, and allow for a more elastic stride and relaxed frame, causing the horse to feel more capable while in work.
If you’re interested, I offer free 20 minute evaluations (within 20 minutes driving).
I charge $85 for maintenance massage
$100 per session or $450 for 5 for structural integration.
