I NEED YOUR HELP! Please take a moment and report these two accounts on instagram. They are scamming people using our name. I have spoken to several people who have unfortunately been scammed by them.

Top training tips for an 8-week-old puppy! With our current litter of puppies going home this weekend, I thought it would be a good time to share some of my top puppy training tips!

1. Start with Basic Commands
Introduce simple commands like "sit," "stay," and "come." Use clear, consistent cues and reward your puppy with treats and praise.

2. Short Training Sessions
Keep training sessions brief, around 5 to 10 minutes, to match your puppy’s short attention span. Multiple short sessions throughout the day are more effective than one long session.

3. Positive Reinforcement
Use positive reinforcement techniques, such as treats, praise, and playtime, to encourage good behavior.

4. Socialization
Expose your puppy to various people, environments, and other animals in a controlled space. This helps them become well-adjusted and reduces the likelihood of behavioral issues later on.

5. Establish a Routine
Puppies thrive on routine. Set regular times for feeding, potty breaks, and training sessions to help your puppy feel secure and understand expectations.

6. Potty Training
Take your puppy outside frequently, especially after meals and naps. Praise them when they go outside to reinforce the behavior!

7. Redirect Unwanted Behaviors
If your puppy engages in unwanted behaviors (like chewing), redirect them to an appropriate toy. This helps them learn what is acceptable.

4 weeks old! Our "summer crew" litter is growing up so quickly.

They started eating some puppy food this week, had baths and nails trimmed, and experienced the blow dryer for this first time!

One of the most frequently asked questions I get asked is, "What all goes into raising puppies for 8 weeks?"

While I won't be able to cover everything in this post, I've broken it down into a brief overview of what weeks 1-8 look like for me with a litter of puppies!

》Week 1-2:

● Monitor puppies closely for weight gain and warmth.
● Handle puppies daily for neurological stimulation.
● Provide extra care for mama: ensure she eats lots, drinks enough water, and stays clean.
● Puppies mainly eat and sleep during this time.

》Week 2-3:

● Puppies' eyes and ears open and they begin to move around more.
● Lots of handling, continuing to make sure they are growing appropriately.
● First dose of worming medicine.

》Week 3-4:

● Puppies start walking around on wobbly legs and begin playing.
● Socializing and confidence building activities, including first bath, nail clipping, introduction to blow dryer.
● Introduce toys and stimulating activities
● Second round of deworming medicine at 4 weeks.

》Week 4-6:

● Begin weaning process from mom and start litter box training.
● More baths, lots of playing, individual play time with each puppy.
● Temperament testing with each puppy
● Begin getting paperwork packets ready for puppies to go home with
● Weekly baths, grooming and nail trimming.

》Week 6-8:

● Puppies are fully weaned and eating puppy food.
● Constant play time, cleaning, and baths.
● Vet visit around 7 weeks for a checkup: heart, eyes, teeth, bone structure etc.
● First shots and another round of deworming medicine.
● Puppy picking / Go home day at 8 weeks old.
● Weekly baths, grooming and nail trimming.

And of course, cleaning them/their playpen several times a day, feeding/watering constantly, and taking pictures to keep their new families updated! 🖤

Since we only have one litter of puppies at a time, we really get to bond with each of them during their first 8 weeks. While we are so excited for them to go home with their new families, it's still sad when they leave!
