Ok, first off, I promise I am in NO WAY picking on anyone or singling any one person out. If you do this, or have done it in the past, this isn’t about you so don’t take it personally! The stuffies and pillows need to come out of your reptile enclosures. Particularly in the basking spots! They are 1) a fire hazard for you and your family (including your pet!). 2) likely outgassing harmful materials because they aren’t designed to be heated. 3) they harbor bacteria and all sorts of nasty things 🤢. 4) they do not allow your animal to properly digest his/her food and grow as he/she should.

Yes, that cute soft squishy thing sitting under the heat is preventing your animal from having an appropriate hot spot. They require the belly heat (no, I am not talking about a plug in basking rock) from a solid platform that absorbs the heat you are providing from above. Please please DO NOT use hammocks, stuffed animals, squishy soft things directly under that light. Your animal will absolutely suffer as a result of that whether you see it outwardly right now or not. Stunted growth, improper development, issues with their internal organs. They cannot properly digest their food and use those nutrients you spend big money on if you aren’t providing them with a proper basking spot!
It’s a BIG problem and I see it over and over. (We can thank social media for this one.) Stuffies in the enclosure, while some of them are super cute, should be removed. Your animal doesn’t require them and they can be/are frequently harmful to your pet and your family.

Hammocks, if you choose to use one, belong on the cool side to provide shade and climbing but are harmful to your animals development if you choose to use them as your animals basking spot “platform”. Hammocks are not solid surfaces. They do not absorb and hold heat.

These babies weren’t exactly planned. I didn’t pair anyone this year due to moving. BUT, Lilith does what Lilith wants😅 I guess she retained some s***m and honestly, I’m glad! These are some of my favorite babies🧡 To be honest, I just want to hoard them all. I know some situations are beyond our control but the home one of my last babies (that I absolutely hated letting go) went to failed him. Miserably. They do NOT quarantine. They say they do but when they take pics showing him with others, they clearly don’t. 1) I’m confident all of my babies are healthy and not going to make others sick BUT, all new reptiles need quarantined. It’s necessary. Especially when you’re bringing in others from other breeders at the same time. It’s just one of the most important (and easiest) tasks when welcoming a new one into your home. 2) That baby is currently deceased. After several weeks, he died in the bath. That honestly angered me. He wasn’t a tiny baby. Yes. Accidents happen. All around carelessness isn’t an accident, though. It’s negligence. This is why I absolutely refuse to send my babies to any random person that wants one. So now I’m beyond torn on whether or not I’ll let any of these go in a couple months😏

BUT look at that sweet face
