Animal Action Team
Hi Eileen,
We are so excited to share the news that Governor Maura Healey has signed two more animal protection bills into law!
S. 2552: An Act prohibiting inhumane feline declawing
This new law prohibits the declawing, onychectomy, or tendonectomy of a cat unless medically necessary. The standard, elective, declawing procedure calls for the removal of the claw and the first bone of the toe. The operation is usually performed on the front feet, and is in fact an amputation comparable to the removal of human fingertips at the first knuckle. Learn more about this new law!
S. 2908: An Act relative to the humane protection of animals
This new law prevents the sale of animals under 8 weeks. Separating puppies and kittens from their mother and littermates early can result in health and behavioral problems, including disease susceptibility and aggression. The law also prohibits the sale, exchange, or commercial display of any dog or cat on any roadside, park, recreation area, flea market or outdoor market, or parking lot. Selling animals in such places by individuals often provides no recourse for consumers who may purchase a sick animal. Learn more about this new law!
Thank you to sponsors Senator Mark Montigny (S. 2552), Senator John Velis, State Representative Ted Philips, and State Representative Jessica Giannino (S. 2908) for your advocacy on this issue! We also want to thank Senate President Karen E. Spilka, Speaker Ron Mariano, Senate Ways and Means Chair Senator Michael Rodrigues, House Ways and Means Chair Aaron Michlewitz, and Representative Tackey Chan for their leadership and supporting this bill through their committees and chambers.

Introducing BIG MAC! This lovable huge boy is Approx 4 years young and a total love bug! Today I tested him for FELV, FIV AND HEART WORM….all negative!
It’s All About the Animals, Inc. was founded in 2009 by Oren and Pamela Robinson to give abused and abandoned felines the love, care and shelter they deserve until they find their furrever homes.
The shelter's buildings are situated in the peaceful countryside of Rochester, MA. "The Kitty Village," consists of a large "main" shelter and 4 smaller "cottages". Each unit has heat, air-conditioning, and plenty of natural light. Cheerful wall paintings, colorful shelves, furniture and toys provide a fun-filled, cage-free, environment with the stimulation that feline residents need and deserve. All feline areas have access to an outside mosquito-free space. Also on the grounds is a small “kitty clinic” where all felines are quarantined, for a minimum of 2 weeks, tested for leukemia, heart worm and FIV. It is in this unit that each animal is evaluated, examined, and medically treated.
We also rescue felines from premature euthanasia. No cat will be “put down” unless they are suffering incurable pain. Our shelter is free-roaming with access to safe, enclosed outdoor areas.
Please visit us...but beware of kitties running amok and toys scattered everywhere! A visit to our shelter is sure to brighten your heart and make you smile!
It's All About the Animals, Inc. is a cage free, no kill 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal shelter. We give abused and abandoned animals the opportunity to receive the love, care, and shelter they need until they find furrever homes. Our cats have space to run, play, and explore safe enclosed outdoor areas (aka "catios"). A visit to our shelter will brighten your heart and bring you smiles!
Our shelter operates solely on your generous donations. Please consider helping our cause. 100% of your donation will provide food, supplies, and medical care. We don't have any paid employees, only amazing volunteers!
All cats available for adoption have been spayed/neutered and have received ALL vaccines for distemper and rabies. They've been de-wormed (tapeworm & roundworm), de-flea'd, treated for ear mites, tested for leukemia, FIV, and heartworm. All kittens are treated for coccidia and giardia. Each cat is given a microchip and registered with a professionally managed database. Adoptions range from $200-$225 depending on the cat's age.
