“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard” -Winnie the Pooh
It was a very hard week this week as we were forced to say goodbye to our beloved lesson horse, Hugo. Hugo came to us nearly 10 years ago after his retirement from a successful career on the Arabian horse show circuit. He very quickly became an integral and adored part of our lesson program, a job that he loved. His kind and happy demeanor and easy going personality made him the favorite of everyone who rode him. He taught hundreds of riders how to canter, how to ride a show horse trot, how to ride without stirrups, or how to steer with confidence. He loved group lessons-and never missed a chance to trot as close to his friends as possible. He enjoyed academy shows, beach rides, Halloween costumes, and many many hours of grooming, attention, cookies, and snuggles from students of all ages. There will never be another horse like him, and I am a better horsewoman for having him in my life. I am incredibly grateful to Beth and Laura for allowing him to stay with me for the past decade. Enjoy your greener pastures, Hugs ❤️
