“Don’t forget the school horse that made you.

The patient soul that tolerated your bouncing while you figured out how to sit the trot.

The kind mare that didn’t walk off when you fumbled with the bridle.

The sweet mare that picked up the correct canter lead even though your body was telling her to do the exact opposite.

The saintly angel that never spooked, which is a good thing because your balance was precarious at best because you only rode once a week.

Too often we forget where we came from. We move on to the next chapter in our lives and say, “Oh my gosh, I’m learning so much! I’m going so far! I could never do this on that old school horse!”

But that school horse gave you the confidence to move forward. That school horse took care of you and allowed you to take the time you needed to find your way. You couldn’t have become the rider you are today without that old school horse.”

Wishing everyone a very happy thanksgiving from our barn family to yours!

We are so thankful for the horses, puppies, and people that have come into our lives this year ❤️

There will be no lessons or barn brigade on Friday or Saturday this week so that our staff and lesson horses can enjoy a well deserved vacation-we’ll see you in December!

Our annual Halloween horse show was a huge success!! Even the pouring rain couldn’t put a damper on the fun, as all of our students showed off their skills competing in pleasure and equitation classes as well as the ever popular costume class. We gave riders the added optional challenge this year to dress a horse up inspired by the horse’s name or nickname, and they got so creative! Can you guess any names based on the costumes?

Thank you to Libby Lukas for judging, Carol for helping us get the barn and arena in tip top shape, Kat for loaning us your (very good sported) geldings for costume, and all of the parents who braved the cold rain and brought goodies and warm beverages-it was a great way to wrap up the season!

Next youth group meeting will be THIS Thursday, 11/21 5:30-7pm

We will be planning and preparing for our at home schooling show this weekend, and of course discussing all the horses and barn things we are thankful for!

$15 includes pizza and beverages, and we would like to encourage all participants to bring a non perishable food item to be donated to a local food pantry this holiday season!

Dark Horse riders: you guys have been asking for it-our home schooling show is back! Join us Saturday 11/23 for a day of horses, friends, and friendly competition!!

No stirrup November is underway and these riders are already working hard to improve their seats and leg strength! Shout out to our rockstar lesson horses Hugo, Rebel and Enzo, for being smooth and safe mounts and helping our students gain skill and confidence EVERY month ❤️❤️

Well, that’s a wrap on the 2024 horse show season, and what a way to end it! Our horses and riders took on Octoberfest with success and smiles-from huge classes to experiencing all four seasons in one week, they conquered all obstacles and put in rides and drives that made us proud. Bring on 2025!

We wrapped up a great day yesterday with a win for Lola and Carol in the amateur western pleasure!!

This morning, all of our walk trotters had great rides in big classes and took home some ribbons in deep competition. Tonight, Sara and Maverick head back into the Classic Pleasure Driving Championship and Jade and DD will take on the ladies pleasure!
