We want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we worked through an emergent situation yesterday. ACAPL brought 26 dogs and 12 cats into our care, who were being housed in a single trailer. Understanding it was in the best interest of the animals, the owner voluntarily surrendered all of the animals on site. (No negative comments please) And while we are so grateful to have the opportunity to improve the lives of these animals, it does not come without challenges. Our census and cost per animal is overwhelming right now, which is where you can lend a paw!
1) Donate from our wishlist (acapl.org/wish-list) We are desperately in need of:
Dry dog food
(Purina Dog Chow/Purina One)
Bleach
Canned Pumpkin
Soft Dog treats/Spray cheese
New/used leashes collars
2) Financial donations. The gap between the cost of getting an animal ready for adoption vs adoption fees is approximately $250 for dogs and $100 for cats, that’s without any medical complications. (Quick math, this gap on this situation will be about $7,700) Every single dollar helps!
Donate online at acapl.org/donate or Venmo
3)Volunteer!!! We need extra hands everyday for walks, enrichment, cat cuddling, cleaning, laundry etc! With nearly 40 animals in one day, staff needs your support to ensure the best outcomes for our new arrivals. Email Lori at [email protected] or call the shelter for more information.
4)Adopt. We have so many amazing animals waiting for homes, every animal that is adopted saves the life of another as it opens up space. Animals from this situation will not be available for at least a week pending medical clearance, spay/neuter, but we have so many ready to go at acapl.org.
5) Engage! Be an advocate or get involved at the corporate or board level. If you would like to learn more about investing in the future of the ACAPL and how to make the greatest impact, reach out to Mary at [email protected].
Thank you!!!
