I’ll be permanently shutting down the page. I love seeing the years of progress with Turbo but with all of these major life changes that have happened since 2022 and my work full time and working on getting my daughter’s needs addressed, I do not and have not had time to take on training, walks or really anything other than periodically showing my own dogs’ training progress.

It’s been a great 5 years and from this I take away that we proudly advocated and helped overturn Denver’s breed ban against the APBT with Replace Denver BSL.

As always… PEACE LOVE AND PITTIES ❤️

Today, Dozer (along with his human Sandra and our local garage door company) provided us with some different sized springs for some of our spring pole setups!

A friend told me to look for the ’glimmers’ when life is tough and I can’t help but feel like a little more than luck conspired in us connecting with Eric and eventually his sister Sandra and this handsome boy, Dozer!

It’ll be quiet again for a bit while we work on some different setups but we’ll be back soon! In the meantime, enjoy Turbo’s thank you he sent to Dozer after picking up our springs ❤️

Picking up some springs in the upcoming weeks!

So my question becomes, who needs a spring pole set up!?

Go give the page a like and follow ☺️

If I hit 1,000 followers I’ll do a post to enter a drawing for a free spring pole setup. ❤️

I encourage all dog owners to familiarize themselves with the requirements of the Canine Good Citizenship levels and the required training and testing.

Sincere thank you to my friend and owner of Citizen K-9 Training Academy, Paul, for allowing us to come in and test and for being a great friend and mentor! 🐾

I lost the ‘About Me’ section to the page… which covered a lot of why I started this page and started advocating for bite prevention, most importantly with children. I used my own personal experiences with both myself, my own children and dogs and what I observed almost on a daily basis as a dog owner. Rewind to when I wrote this and Replace Denver BSL was preparing to fight against the 31 year breed ban in place in Denver. Advocation and education is so important to me and it takes all of us APBT owners to continue protecting the breed we love.

The littlest ’pretty’ 😍

Currently running through and redoing my page and contact information, hoping to re-establish my website and be on here a minimal amount. As the days get longer and the weather gets nicer, I’ll be reopening my setmore scheduling ☺️

Partnering up with Riley again to release two new designs that will be available on decals and tees in the upcoming month or so! 🖤

With the help of my wonderful friend Mel, we are beginning to book our events for the spring and summer of 2023. We will be hosting a few different workshops with a primary focus on children and responsible dog ownership!

If you see an event you think we may be interested in having a booth at or an event where we can talk about responsible dog ownership, shoot the page or my personal page a message.

If you’d like to begin receiving emails on upcoming events, please contact me to be added to the email list! I can’t believe this year we are able to run without COVID restrictions AND I have several of my Pretties and Pitties family available to attend at our events.

If you’re planning to attend one of our public events with your four legged friend(s), I will be running through the Canine Good Citizenship requirements as an open discussion on how to use your dog in a public setting, but that DOES NOT prevent your spicy friends from attending. I think it’s good that the public sees different levels of training and how to manage certain breed characteristics and traits.

New Year… New me? Nope… never. 😂😂😂

With that being said, I’ll be moving back towards my website and off of social media by spring! I’ll be manually entering setmore appointments for the month of January but ask you follow the setmore link to book appointments going forward. This year’s weather has been bananas soooo I haven’t officially closed my books and have been doing colder weather walks with my colder weather dogs 🥰❤️.

Looking forward to spring and summer kid’s groups now that COVID restrictions are gone.

I have had quite a few folks surprised we’re still out here, quietly, doing what we do. I’ve been posting the majority of my dog doings on Insta but I’ll be more diligent here ❤️❤️❤️

Admittedly, I can hardly longboard… well I can ride one but not great by any means. But my best friend loves it. So… here we are. Practicing yet another thing to give my best friend… something he absolutely loves. If you’re struggling, spend time with your dog(s). They need you as much as you need them.

How do I train and reinforce Turbo’s off-leash/recall?

I play with my dog. I play unless he is not listening. If he stops listening, I stop playing. Expectations + praise/reward + corrections = manageable dog.

Addi working Turbo 🥰❤️ he’s so solid even a little girl can run him 🙃

My story - How BSL failed me

When I was 3 years old, I was attacked by my babysitter’s dog. Here in Denver, under the reign of Breed-Specific Legislation.

Usika was a sweet looking, fluffy dog. My babysitter’s dog, a "family dog." She wasn’t the short haired, muscular ‘pitbull type’ dog that the media portrays as being responsible for mauling children and adults. There was no question about my playing outside with her. There were no assumptions about her predisposition. No over-alert adults watching us out of fear.

I was outside, on the back step. Something about my movements, the eye-level at which I was to Usika, led to my bite. I don’t remember much of the attack. I only remember reaching upwards, towards the backdoor handle. Clear skies, red, clear skies, red, black. The spinning as I was trying to reach the handle. Going into shock. Eyes back open. This time, laying on my back. Black. Ceiling. Black. Spinning faces around me. Black.

I don’t remember the plastic surgery, the stitches, the staples, the bandages. I remember the van ride home with my mom. The popsicle I got as a reward for being so good. I didn’t know just how brave I really had been. I told the plastic surgeon thank you. I gave him a kiss. I later found out that the surgeon who agreed to take me into his care, was doing me a life-long favor - we didn't have insurance. It was a miracle that my face has healed the way it has. The wounds inside did not heal so quickly. But these wounds are what helps me to tell my story. BSL failed me and continues to fail the public. I was not the first person that dog bit. Due to the reliance on BSL and lack of a tiered dangerous-dog ordinance, the dog was not immediately labeled dangerous or aggressive from the first bite - which would have later prevented mine.
