Leo was a wild goof when I got him out today! In with a new horse all week and the snow storm. Everything was a threat 😆 what would we do without ground work?!
It was so peaceful to hear nothing but the snow crunching beneath his feet and birds in the distance, the trails were still covered! We don’t see snow much, so definitely a memory in the books. I hope some of yall got to ride in the snow too! ❤️❤️❤️

Our oldest daughter turns 4 this spring so we are beginning our search for a pony to bring on board. Keep an eye out for us! 12 hands would be perfect, something just big enough I can ride and keep trained but small enough Nora can start to learn on later in the year. Our budget is 2500 and under, would prefer something that maybe just needs a restart project as she is not ready to learn quite yet! We won’t be doing anything more than teaching seat on a line for a while! I’d prefer to stay local vs a long drive to try something out. Keep us in mind if you see any kids growing out of their pal. We ARE also open to a big discount on board for the right fit for a family share if there’s a family and kiddo duo that wants to board and share some ride time. This would include training etc for the pony to keep in check. Nothing immediate, good long term fit. It always takes a while to find the right one!

Auto feeders in the pasture, generator well, solar fencing, 360 degree cameras, shelter, netted bales. When the weather strikes, we get to relax and watch them at meal times. Programmable like a coffee maker, I’ll never regret the headaches of making things right from the start. Mechanics make amazing farmers, times like these I am so proud of my mechanic farmer! ❤️🎯. We hope everyone is staying warm, and happy snow day!

Love this. Seems like we’re finding our niche to be a great place for riders to work green horses. So the question is, who goes first lol 😆

I guarantee you’ve never been to a barn with this rule on their sign before. It something that sets my place apart as it’s not only an arena rule, it’s also a foundational belief in my program. But what does it actually mean?
It means setting a horse up for success is more important than anything. It means if your horse is struggling with ground work and moving all over the arena, everyone else gets out of the way as you migrate so you’re not forced to release at an incorrect time. It means if your horse isn’t giving you quite what you’re looking for on the roping dummy, take an extra lap or two until he gives you a try. It means if someone is working through something under saddle, don’t get in their way. It means the other riders cater to those doing first or second rides. It means c**ts without steering may use broke horses as bumper cars. It means no one will judge if your horse isn’t finished, if you come to roping just for the exposure, if you get bucked off… because odds are we’re on a c**t that’s green as grass too!
Do the things you need. Take the time you need. Ask for the support you need.
What does “green horses have the right of way” mean to you?

I love applying all the hard work in the arena to adventurous rides out on the trails. I always try to spice things up, crossing my stirrups over for a little no stirrup work, leg yields, weave around trees, jump a log, or adjustability within the gait. Here’s a few other fun suggestions from FEI

There are many ways you can practise your Dressage moves out hacking. At the very least, you will get into good habits.

Went from heavy in the hand, long and flat supermanning over the jumps to a light rythm, & collecting a little bit over the jumps in just a few weeks. Dressage is changing our entire ride! Ready to start raising them up some!

A perfect ride! I got this arena all to myself yall I still need a second boarder along with the one I have lol! I can definitely steer and share 😄. When the economy gets better and you want 46 acres to yourself let me know! Don’t send me the crazy ones tho 🤪 we will be getting ready for making jumps on the trails soon. Leo is turning into a great hunter! I’m really ready for some barn friends in 2025 🙂

Here’s to the years ahead ! 🍻

A 72-Year-Old Man Triumphs in the World's Toughest Horse Race – 100 Miles in a Single Day!

This achievement is truly remarkable. The Tevis Cup stands as the most challenging 100-mile endurance event globally, where many participants struggle to complete the course in a single day. At the age of 72, Potato Richardson, alongside his 14-year-old Arabian mare, SMR Filouette (Gandhy Dancer x Fille de Cailana), emerged victorious, surpassing five previous champions and two former winning horses.

Many might have assumed that this individual had already experienced the peak of his equestrian pursuits; however, he has demonstrated that age is no barrier to exceptional horsemanship. He has a deep connection to his mare, having owned both her mother and grandmother. His meticulous planning over several years culminated in this momentous competition. When the day arrived, he approached it with a vigor and determination that seemed innate. His extensive experience and insight should not be overlooked.

"I simply rode with greater intelligence," remarked Potato Richardson at the age of 72.

In many sports, aging often leads to a decline in performance. However, in the realm of equestrianism, experience tends to enhance our abilities as we grow older. My utmost respect goes to him.

Progress is all relative. Be kind with the goals you set for yourself! After 2 pregnancies, two newborn stages, finding the time to ride, (and figuring out how to not mom guilt myself) … 4 years after buying my 3 year old horse we are finally making some good progress! But the journey has been good. Patience and perseverance, attainable goals (and lots of groundwork 😆). It feels good to still have the same drive after all the humps. Whatever makes you happy, make sure you make time to do it!
