Meet Danny a Clayton County survivor. Danny is waiting for his forever home. Could that be you??

Danny is 2-3 years old. Danny is current on vaccinations, neutered, and chipped. Danny is heartworm negative and on monthly preventative.

Danny recently went through two weeks of training. He has good recall and knows basic commands.

Danny is dog and people friendly.

A home with another energetic dog similar in size in energy would be ideal. Danny likes to play and can play rough at times but will take correction.

A home with NO cats is best for Danny.

Danny is described as a happy big puppy who is as handsome as he is Goofy.

It appears it has become necessary for Leica’s to make a statement about the recent tragic event that occurred with puppies that we were fostering.

Due to an ex- volunteer not wanting to hear the facts of what happened and her wanting to justify her exit, there are lies being posted about the rescue. First, Leica’s would NEVER purposely endanger or create an environment to endanger puppies or any dog. The puppies WEREN'T brutally killed or slaughtered by another dog. The puppies were originally being fostered in an outside kennel with one dog house for nine puppies and the mother dog. The weather forecast was for temperatures in the teens. Thus, the decision was made to move the mother dog and the puppies to a new kennel building with heat, insulation, and proper shelter. Photos will be posted at the end of this statement.

Leica’s spent over $150,000 in the past few months to buy the property where the new building sits and to have the building installed to make sure all dogs had proper shelter for the winter.

The tragedy that happened, was heartbreaking and the sorrow of that loss will never go away. However, it has been determined that the death of the puppies was likely caused by a reaction or allergy to initial puppy vaccines which they received earlier in the day. This was determined from statements from all people who were on the scene and from talking with several vets. The puppies were NOT found mutilated or slaughtered. They appeared to be sleeping in a pile as puppies do. No injuries were found and no blood on the scene.

The original foster and the admin volunteer who brought her into our foster program were very upset that the puppies were moved. This is what has motivated the vicious attack on the Rescue and both of them quitting the Rescue. The photos show the shelter where the puppies were originally housed and the new kennel they were moved to when we got the bad weather forecast.

We would never endanger the life of any dog.

We did what was necessary for their well-being.

We will continue to move forward.

Sweet Gabe who was rescued Friday from Hall County.

His little body so badly shattered. We had to make the tough decision to give him eternal peace. Gabe was brought into the shelter after being hit by a car. We wanted to help him.

Unfortunately, the injuries he sustained were far more than anticipated and beyond repair.
He was in pain.
He was humanely euthanized with people who loved him right by his side.

Donations will be used for Gabe's vet bill, and cremation costs.

Here we have..Flavio ( the injured leg boy) and Quinn( Mac)... Both Cobb boys!! With our wonderful foster getting them both back to full health!
Look how wonderful they look!( Yes, poor Flavio has to keep the cone on ..😬)

We saved 3 little lives today.
They are THE sweetest, quiet, calm dogs ever...

All needing fosters/forever homes. They are super sweet, and very calm little dogs. A prior litter like this...3 of them went to be Service Dogs!

Quinn/ Mac was moved to his wonderful foster. He's doing great, getting to..share a bed😆😆..and..one of the kiddos in the foster home love him! Updates will be slower going fwd. We have numerous dogs in rescue..and more to save...

Good morning, Quinn/Mac is doing well. He continues to good eating/drinking his food. He did gain some weight today. Mac has been barking some more. We will continue to monitor him and update you tomorrow morning. Alex, VA

Further xrays and blood tests are being done to determine other problems that may exist. PLEASE bear with us. We have have numerous other dogs we are trying to get adopted out too. We will update as we get more information. Quinn is still battling and eating and putting on weight is an issue. We're doing all we can. His bill is already >$3k.

1/1/25:

Good afternoon. Quinn/Mac is currently stable. He did eat a small amount of food last night, however, he did not eat any of his breakfast from this morning. He did lose half a pound. We are continuing with his daily treatment of nebulization. We will update again in the morning after the doctor re-evaluates him. All Creatures Animal Hospital

12/29: Good morning, we wanted to give you an update on Quinn/Mac. He ate the wet food from last night, none of the dry. He also drank some water. He urinated and pooped this morning. We ran the nebulizer and coupaged to help him cough stuff up. We will reach back tomorrow with a new update. All Creatures Animal Hospital.

12/28: Quinn is still at vet receiving the care he needs and trying to get him to eat.
He's gained a couple of pounds..and is still on antibiotics and reciving care. He still has a long road and a tough battle.

We'll update again in a few days.

12/25: Update:

Quinn/Mac is showing many abnormalities which are not clinically relevant to his present condition yet some are. A few things that stand out include 1) elevated white blood cell count, including neutrophils and monocytes indicating the pneumonia we see; 2) derangement of blood and urine proteins which could suggest an underlying condition that leaks proteins from the bowels or urine, leading to the dramatic weight loss? (further diagnostics will be needed); and 3) very low platelet count, which could be another problem to sort.

I suggest we continue with pneumonia therapy and re-evaluate in a couple of days as we planned, then move forward based upon where we are then.

12/24..He's ...out...Mac ( now Quinn) was picked up early this morning and is now safely at the vet. Thank you sooo much Aimee for getting out there in the cold and the dark to pick him up and get him out for Christmas.

We're waiting for total update from vet a bit later, and we'll update the post as soon as we can.
Thank you everyone for rallying around him, but especially those helping Leica's.
I'm Blessed and very fortunate to have them. Leica's couldn't have a better team at this time.

We welcome sweet, beautiful EllieMae. She came to us because not enough space to run and become a..GSD, .. to enjoy life....and...people not understanding GSDs and puppies need exercise.

She'll be getting all utd vaccinations this coming week. She's 10 months old and is good with people, dogs..and..even though she barked at the kitties..( she hasn't seen a kitty before), she really wanted to play.
