If your horse is rearing because he’s hot and nervous, make sure you’re not adding to the situation by pulling back on both reins to try to stop him from moving. Remember, the more you pull back on the reins and say, “Don’t go!” the more upset and nervous the horse will get. When a horse panics and uses the reactive side of his brain, only use one rein to control him, and concentrate on getting him to use the thinking side of his brain by doing lots of changes of direction.

The best way to gain immediate control of the situation is to yield his hindquarters. When a horse crosses his back legs over one another, it takes away his balance. Without balance, the horse can’t stand on his hind legs and rear. Think of yielding the horse’s hindquarters like pushing the clutch in on a car, you’re taking the power away from the horse. Yielding the hindquarters also gets the horse to stop thinking about being disrespectful or fearful and makes him concentrate on where he’s placing his feet. - Clinton

Ruby is a 5 year old grade mare. This is a personal c**t that keeps getting put on the back burner so she is looking for a new rider. I have had Rudy for a year but hasn’t been rode consistent. She has been trail rode, tracked calves, and heeled the dummy some. I see lots of potential in Ruby as a heel or breakaway horse. Located in Rosebud ar. Welcome to MLR Training & More, I’m Mason Reynolds.

• A Little About Me : I’ve been training horses for 6 years now. I’ve been riding since I was a baby and I’m an outrider for our wagon race team. I love racing but I’m mostly passionate about training c**ts / horses / mules and tuneups ! Everyone’s heard the saying “there’s always room for improvement”- whether it’s starting one from the ground up or doing a tuneup, I’m constantly working snd studying on what I can do to make the animal better. I’m a firm believer in ground work. In my opinion the way the horse is worked on the ground in the round pen Is a pretty good foreshadow for how the animal will act under saddle. A lot of people will just work one in the round pen to get it tired and just let the animal run. The animal is taught to face and turn towards you in a sign of respect instead of turning into the fence. Even when I’m just doing tuneups I go to the round pen first to see what the horse knows and see what needs fixed from the ground up.
• What I Have To Offer : I have a lot of experience in training not just horses but mules as well. I’m offering c**t starting to any age horses or mules along with tuneups. It is proven that the older a horse is, the more set in their ways they are but I will take any age along with any size. They aren’t just rode in the round pen and arena. I take them out on trail rides which consist of going up and down hills and crossing all kinds of creeks. They get ridden down the side of the road to where they are exposed to traffic. While I have the animal they are ridden around cattle, through the woods, exposed to dogs, tractors, wagons, side by sides and all our desensitizing methods. I give weekly updates with videos to the owners so they can see how their animal is doing. Owners are always welcome to come watch me work / ride. I keep a calendar with everyday marked that I ride the animal to keep up with their days. All horse progress at different levels so it’s important to push them but not to push them too far too quick. Always stay patient with your horse at all levels of its learning.
I also buy and sell /trade some horses so if you are in the market I might have what you are looking for! If not I would be glad to help you find the one that fits you best ! When purchasing a horse from me, it will be just what I say it is. I only want to sell you a horse if it’s a perfect fit. It’s important to me that you and the horse get along good and the horse is suitable for everything you are wanting to do with it.
If you have any questions please send me a message and I would be happy to answer !
