Rise is showing off how good he is at this new mounting skill
A snip from our last ride.
So thankful for everyone that has been a part of this journey with us- the good the bad and the in between.
Once again I had an exceptional time improving myself and I’m so grateful to all the people who came out and made a bid to take Remi home, I hope you all become mustang adopters one way or another after meeting this spectacular animal.
Thank you to Susan Clogston for being everyone’s cheerleader. Thank you to all competitors, volunteers, and board members of MYWY Mustang Madness TIP Challenge Event
You guys gave me a whole new lease on life and I can’t wait to continue to improve and come back stronger every year.
I will be back for MYWY 2025 for sure, and I’m so excited to see everyone then.
Until next time, I bid you farewell.
Remi’s first time being ridden by a kiddo off the line. I’m blown away with how sensible and generous he was with her.
First time Rem ever carried a flag was at a gaming show couple weeks ago😆 such a good dude
The moment where I got us stuck in a tricky spot & I slipped.
sometimes these are the moments that can really make or break your trust in a horse.
He handled himself with grace even when my decision making wasn’t perfect, I’m thankful.
Let’s go Rem! Keep watch, we are going jumping tomorrow!
A good friend of mine Maddy met and rode Rem today :)
RIde with me!
We went on a group trail ride where I got separated and and Rem were by ourselves after I stayed back to work with him over the bridge.
Only one little riding kurfuffle when going past a gravel road but he recovered so well!
He would make an excellent endurance horse.
Once you go Mustang, you never go back ❤️
It’s crazy to think I’ve had Rem for almost 90 days! He has already taught me so much and he has strengthened my love for BLM mustangs that Tassi started.
Remi will be available for adoption August 13th in Cle Elum Washington at MYWY Mustang Madness TIP Challenge Event and I can’t wait to set him off for his next adventure even though I’ll miss him dearly.
For those interested: Spirit Of Redemption aka Rem is a 7 year old 15.2hh drafty BLM mustang from the South Steens. If you have any questions feel free to ask!
A huge thank you to my supporters:
Wild Fed Horse for the feed that has brought out the shine in this boy, and is building him up to be his absolute best.
I feed all of my horses a low sugar, high fiber diet with unlimited grass hay.
Wild Fed Horse feed is low NSC’s, corn free, soy free, and sweetener free.
This feed is a blessing in my barn and a great way to add easy to digest calories when my horses need it.
Thank you to Servine Feed, Tack and Boarding for the high quality (and tested) forage that has given him the fiber & energy needed as the foundation for his feeding program.
Figuring out the canter, transitions, & stops.
Acknowledging strengths and weaknesses in your horse and yourself.
Something everyone can benefit from continually improving on.
Remi is intelligent and tolerant but he’s quick to evade if that is an option, and not easily motivated to step out of his comfort zone.
I am observant and well timed but I can get caught up in perceived progress and miss little things.
Most of my horses have made leaving holes in training hard, what I mean is that I couldn’t move forward until that little issue was resolved.
Remi doesn’t, he makes it easy with his compliance. All of these things become more visible when the halter is off and he knows he has more choices.
So recently I’ve ditched the halter, I made mistakes easier to see which can appear to make the goal harder to accomplish.
But my goal isn’t to halter him anymore, it’s for him to desire to be haltered.
Here’s a little clip today of something that was harder to accomplish then starting him under saddle or teaching him to load in the trailer.
To be calm and confident when I’m handling his face & ears.
Extremely thankful for this mare.
I would consider Tassi a pretty sensitive and emotional mare so something like this seems like it would be in direct contradiction to her personality.
It’s not easy, but it is possible.
Remi will be available August 13th through MYWY Mustang Madness TIP Challenge Event a Mustang Heritage Foundation training program.
It’s crazy that it’s almost been two months with this guy and I’m excited to see where the next few months takes us.
Spirit Of Redemption is a 6 year old BLM mustang from the South Steens HMA in Oregon. He is built to endure the test of time and with only a few rides so far I have no doubt that he’ll be the mount of a lifetime to own.
There we be other horses available under saddle & in hand at the end of the 3 day event. Located in Cle Elum at the Washington State Horse Park. The show is free to attend and all are welcome to watch and enjoy. The trainers are exceptional and I’m proud to be able to compete with them.
Remi has a page where he is currently the star, Wild & Unhandled horses- Tassi’s Legacy. Feel free to ask any questions about Remi or the program.
54th day with Spirit Of Redemption.
Got his feet done for the first time! Thanks to a wonderful and extremely patient & kind farrier that took his time and made it an excellent first experience for Remi.
It wasn’t a perfect day and we have a couple things to work on to make our next trail better but overall he did absolutely fantastic and I’m extremely proud of his ability to recover in new situations.
