A hasty plea to all of you that have gardens and might see some leaves looking like the ones in my picture. Please, please, don't spray with insecticide! The holes are actually being made by a solitary bee called a Leaf Cutter Bee. She takes this to her home and makes a tiny thimble shaped cell from it. Then she lays her egg and seals the cell with another bit of leaf. She's no danger to you so please, allow her to use some of your leaves - usually roses but not always. Insecticides will kill her.
I found this little one on my fence yesterday and looked her up. Please help to let them live!
