Love getting to to ride and help him accomplish his goals.
Things have slowed down a little this winter allowing time to expand and improve(if I ever stay healed up) Last year was a huge success in most regards, but it came with its fair share of struggles and loss. 2022 proved to be the toughest year for me so far.
I enter 2023 with last year's lessons learned and thank God for his sufficient grace. I lay down my plow, bear my cross, expecting God's blessings in the year to follow. May you be blessed this year.
Beautiful sunset makes a good backdrop for bridleless reining.
Most people start out by making one of two mistakes when getting a youngster started riding. They either buy that 1d top shelf horse,or they buy a $500 (salebarn special, backyard problem)horse. I'd rather start out on anything that is forgiving and patient no matter what the cost. Something that has experience in a multitude of situations and nothing bothers him. He may not be the flashiest, or or pull a check, or win the blue ribbon, but in my opinion these type of horses are worth their weight in gold.
I got to present a reserve buckle to a very special young lady this weekend. She's been riding with me for a few months on an old yeller horse and has overcome so many adversities. It's been a challenge for her and even though she's not there yet I know she will be one day. Chase your dreams girl until you get em caught, saddle em up, and ride em into the sunset.
Day number two of turning my best ranch horse into a barrel pony for my daughter. I've been injured and haven't rode in three months so it's also day two of getting me in shape. I think we both looked pretty good. Lots of room for improvement though.
We had a good time today at MSJRA. Erma improved some but still has some things to figure out. Trevor's goat didn't stay tied but he's a little better each run
Short commute to the office this morning. Working on lead departures, hind quarter engagement, ribs and shoulders.
Laying a trip on a calf and doctoring on 3rd day of rope training. He's progressing nicely.
Teaching one to pull and working on rate with the other one
Doing a little rope horse training with the kiddos on this beautiful day
I didn't care about their social distancing. Sometimes a wise teacher doesn't have to speak to teach, he just has to let them learn without teaching. #coronatherapy
