Dr. Rachel Butterworth-Tice joined the practice in November of 2007 when Dr. Hinkle purchased Cox Animal Hospital from Dr. Lanny Walker and took over a majority of the large animal work. Dr. Rachel Butterworth-Tice grew up on a small horse farm in central Maryland, where her mother taught her to ride English style as well as a deep love and respect for animals. She studied animal science at Virginia Tech and proceeded to the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine on the Virginia Tech campus. She graduated from veterinary school in 2003 and took her first job in Maryland at an ambulatory equine practice. She worked there for three years before moving to North Carolina to take a position with Rutherford Large Animal Services. In 2009 she bought the practice and is now the sole owner of Rutherford Large Animal Mobile Services, PPLC. She currently lives on a small farm in Rutherford county with her husband Matthew, son Gregory, three horses, five cats, two dogs and a flock of chickens. Bachelor of Science - Animal Science
