It’s an exciting week on the farm as we grow. We brought home more Nubian girls for the dairy and will be bringing home our newest addition later this weekend.

The farm shop is going to be closed this weekend while we welcome our little girl into the world!

Strawberry's are on the way. Look for them at the end of May!

Thank you for everyone who showed up and hung out with us today!!

We have an update.

So today after calling and emailing I finally got a email back that we were denied because we did not have an egg candling license and we did not have our mobile meat license .

We don’t need a mobile meat license to sell the meat on our farm and if we were not going to be in the markets, why would we pay for a license we don’t need ?

Melinda, Melinda’s mom, and I all have a candling licenses . My license was provided to them at the initial application.

This is the second time the Bartow extension office has said we didn’t have a license, but we have the license.

Extension employees and other people at the Farmers Market last year make up the board. Sends a very clear message.

So if you want produce, lamb and pork grown/raised locally, we’ll have our Farm shop open on Saturdays still.

We plan on being at the Rydal and Euharlee farmers market.

It is disheartening to say we will not attend Acworth after the Acworth Farmers Market Vendors Page repeatedly deleted her comments on this post accusing us of lying and not complying with legal requirements. We comply with all USDA regulations and have applied for additional licensing required for attending these markets at an added cost to our farm. Despite repeat conversations with Tina and understanding that we would have a spot once the mobile meat licensing was finalized she repeatedly made comments indicating that we were misleading people by saying we would be at Acworth. We have decided to no longer associatete with their market and manager. This is what new farmers and producers have to endure with in market mangers on a weekly basis.

We’re also working on a CSA pick up on Wednesdays in Rydal and Acworth.

I want to share one of the hardest things for farms like ours. We are a market farm that relies on farmers markets to help us reach consumers wanting high-quality produce, meats, and other farm products.

Places like the Cartersville Farmers Market are vital to farms like ours and for Bartow County. For the second year in a row, we have been denied a spot in the Cartersville farmers market with no clear explanation. They for years have restricted access to their market by limiting the size and access for new vendors rather than serving the businesses of Bartow by choosing a larger, more accessible location that would give more options for consumers, better access for vendors and shoppers, and would allow new businesses an opportunity to join. It’s things like this that prevent farms like ours trying to fill the need that has been created by rising prices of tomatoes, eggs, and other produce at the grocery store while ours stay the same.

So if you value having access to local, high quality produce close by, speak up to places like Bartow County UGA Extension that oversees the Cartersville Farmers Market or support your local farms by purchasing directly from them.

The garden at Faith Methodist Church Cartersville may look familiar. We’re setting up a smaller version of the farm at church. This will help put fresh produce into the Manna Pantry.
