We had the best time working with Drake this week - He never stopped smiling! 😊 Drake is working on strengthening his legs after patella surgery and is doing great! This little guy makes the trip all the way from Chico! We are so happy you found us, Drake!

Osteoarthritis is the most common cause of chronic pain in dogs. It is estimated that 30-40% of dogs have pain due to arthritis. 😮 but did you know that even young dogs can be affected? This is actually far from the truth. A recent study found that 40% of dogs less than 4 years old already show signs of arthritis on their x-rays.

If your dog exhibits any of the following symptoms, they may be experiencing arthritis pain!
- Limping after exercise
- Lagging behind on walks
- Slow to rise
- Difficulty jumping
- Feeling stiff
- Difficulty with stairs

It may be time to talk to your veterinarian about pain management options for your pet. Here are some facts about a few of our commonly used medications!

MEET ZIMMY!

Have you ever seen a more handsome Standard Dachshund? We think that his name, however, is a misnomer - this guy comes fully loaded!! Zimmy has earned his Grand Championship in the show ring with titles in rally, earth dog, trick dog and even his Canine Good Citizen certification. These days he’s working on barn hunt and NASDA trials - looking for ratties is his favorite! Zimmy is here at Thrive to work on strength & conditioning to help him excel in all the things for years to come!

✨ MEET US MONDAY! ✨

Meet Winnie! This lovely lady came to us after she unfortunately injured her knee. Her veterinarian diagnosed her with a partial cruciate ligament tear and sent her to rehabilitation. The canine CCL is just like your ACL and is often injured when playing and running - often times during sporting events! Thankfully, she has a complete recovery through rehab - no surgery required! Good Job, Winnie girl! 💪🏼

At 10 years old, Olive was acutely paralyzed with no known trauma. Her family was devastated! At her age, surgery was not a viable option so Olive’s family brought her to therapy at Thrive. Suspecting some sort of transient spinal cord trauma, we immediately focused on pain management and strengthening. Thankfully she made little strides with each weekly visit as we emphasized relearning how to do everything we take for granted each day. Just keeping her legs in a normal position laying down was hard, let alone standing or walking! Thanks to her family putting in the time and effort, Olive is back to running with her pack! You rock, Olive!!
