Moving into a focus on building more confidence with new sensations — the saddle, movement, flexion, and staying soft through each ask, checking in with me as a rider on his back. Rico is trying to learn how to think through scary things.

Little wins are turning into big progress, as we get outside the arena.

Ghost is finally starting to enjoy the good things in life again. 💛

A few of his favorites:

• Snacks — absolutely anything sweet and tasty.
• Scratches — especially in that special spot on his rump!
• Morgan — that one person who makes him feel safe and understood.

After being overlooked for so long, it’s been really special watching him relax, connect, and realize he’s allowed to enjoy himself. This sweet palomino is soaking up every bit of kindness and attention he gets.

You’ve seen her before, but she never really got the official introduction she deserves…

Meet my sweet Holly Horse. 🤎

She originally came home to be the start of my cow-horse breeding program — talented, gorgeous, and bred for it, with **Hollywood Dun It, Doc O’ Lena, and Mr San Peppy** in her blood. But soon after she arrived, she became severely lame, and a full workup revealed navicular changes in both front feet, suspected to be due to a hard start at a young age.

Not the news I had hoped for, but we shifted gears to get this girl right.

Since then, we’ve taken the long, patient road — careful nutrition, corrective trimming, and giving her body time. And today? She’s moving better than we have seen yet, and finally showing glimpses of the mare I know she can be.

With bloodlines like hers… let’s just say I am quietly dreaming about the possibility of a future foal 👀✨

For now, Holly is on foot rehabilitation plan that includes lots of snuggles and scratches 🤎

Preparing for Bentley’s first ride has been such a powerful reminder of why slow, thoughtful starts matter so much. He’s a smart, sensitive guy with a ton of potential—but he needs time to process, make sense of new sensations, and build trust one careful layer at a time.

In this moment, with me quietly settling onto his back, his head dropped… his neck softened… and his whole expression shifted. You could feel him trying—choosing curiosity over fear.

It never stops amazing me that these prey animals allow us, predators, to climb onto them in their most vulnerable position.

And it makes moments like this feel pretty special.

Can you remember a time you let yourself soften like that? In moments when you wanted to brace and protect, and chose to soften?

Another lesson, and reminder from the horse....

✨ Ghost — Rescue & Redemption Story ✨

This is Ghost, an 18-year-old palomino gelding whose story was almost forgotten… until he landed here.

When he arrived in September, he was underweight, sick, overdue for a dental, desperately needing a trim, and overall just tired — physically and mentally. He’d been tossed aside... left to an end coming too soon.

Ghost, who came to us as Andy, earned his name through this claim to redemption.

After a few months of vet care, proper nutrition, dentistry, farrier work, and a lot of quiet time simply feeling safe, Ghost has started to shine again. He’s gaining weight, his eyes look brighter, and we’re beginning to explore his education to see what he knows, what he remembers, and where he’s most comfortable.

And honestly… he’s proving to be such a good boy. Anxious, but willing, grateful, and sweeter with every passing week.

The goal?

To help him rebuild physically, rebuild mentally, and ultimately find a home where he can enjoy the rest of his days receiving the love he always deserved.

Because really — who doesn’t love a palomino with a comeback story? 💛

Follow along to keep up with Ghost’s journey as he finds his way back to himself.

Rico’s journey has been all about a restart in the foundation work — softness, leading, boundaries, and helping him understand what pressure and release mean, down to his feet, and building confidence in our human world.

This boy is smart. You can see those wheels turning as he tries to sort everything out, and every session he gets more relaxed, more tuned-in, and more trusting.

He’s proving to be a willing, athletic Mustang with all the makings of a seriously fun partner.

✨ Rico will be available for sale

Honey Badger — our late-teen queen and one of the most important members of our herd. 💛

After losing her pasture mates last year, she went through a season of grief. She was underweight, withdrawn, and clearly missing her partners. But over the past year, this sweet mare has rewritten her story.

With time, care, and a new sense of purpose, Honey Badger has blossomed into an irreplaceable teammate in our equine-assisted therapy program. She shows up every week for the humans who need her most — soft, patient, and wise in all the ways only a seasoned mare can be.

Her long-term goal?
To live out the rest of her days knowing she matters… helping both people and horses heal.

Here’s to the horses who find a second life mission. 💛
And to the quiet, steady souls like Honey Badger who remind us that healing is possible at any age.

Follow for more stories from our herd and the work they’re doing here with us.

Bentley arrived during the first week of November, and it’s been such a joy supporting his owner through these critical first few weeks.

These early weeks set the tone for everything, and I love helping build the kind of solid, confident foundation I truly believe in.

You’ve already seen a few glimpses of his first sits and all the prep leading up to riding… and there’s so much more to come.

We even have the first ride under our belts — and it’s been a blast celebrating each little win with Collene, Bentley, and all of you following along.

I love sharing updates on this sweet guy... stay tuned in for more updates 💞

✨ Silkie’s Catch-Up Story ✨

Swipe to see just how far this little late bloomer has come.

When Silkie first arrived early this year, she was all legs, softness, and potential — still figuring out her body and the world around her.

But day by day, ride by ride, she’s been quietly leveling up into the beauty she has become as she loaded up and went back home with her owner this fall.

Now? She’s officially impressing everyone with her athleticism, try, and natural ability. From her first saddling to confidently carrying herself like a true partner, Silkie has stepped into her glow-up era as she wows the crowd in her first herd work weekend. 🐮

This girl is smart, kind, willing, and so much fun to bring along. Whatever she does next — trail, arena, ranch — she’s going to shine.

Follow along for more Silkie updates — as her story back home with her owner is just getting started. 🤎🐴
