Cat of the Week: Thomas!

Thomas is such a special guy! When he was abandoned by his owner, his second family took him on and he lived happily with them for years. Unfortunately, he was never able to get along with their other pets and he mostly stayed in their backyard.

He was safe and secure there until they had to move. They tried so hard to take him with them but the place they were moving to was just too rural and not safe for Thomas. FKC agreed to care for him and try to find him a new home.

Thomas is so confident and friendly and you would be lucky to have him in your life! He would do best as the only cat in your home. He loves head scratches and being talked to and he knows his name! If you're interested in meeting Thomas, please fill out an adoption application!

Feta, Max, and Swiss would like to remind you that they all 3 are available for adoption!
Currently in foster, these boys are the best of friends and are awaiting their forever home!
Max is a 2 year old handsome grey tabby who needs to be on a special urinary diet (that FKC is happy to provide to his future adopter). He is the sweetest, most social boy who loves everyone and every cat he meets. Feta (flame point) and Swiss (white) are two 3 month old old males who are brothers from another mother, but are bonded like no other. Swiss is deaf, and Feta is his service cat. These two kittens are amazingly friendly and sweet. And absolutely adorable.

Lady and Teddy are 9 year old bonded Scottish Folds who are needing immediate rehoming. They are currently in a home in Po***ck Pines after being rescued from a bad situation, but they can't stay where they are much longer. Lady is a beautiful tortie, and Teddy is a handsome orange tabby. Both are very lovable and friendly. They love taking naps and Lady even has a playful side. Teddy does have some arthritis but gets around just fine.

Cat of the Week: Bobby!

Everyone who meets Bobby just adores him! He's got enough confidence and charisma for 10 cats, so there's nothing shy about this guy. You can kiss him and cuddle him and he just purrs like a motor!

He's sweet and friendly and does well with other cats, so how did he end up on the euthanasia list at a shelter you may ask? Bobby is FIV+, which isn't as scary as it sounds. He also had some dental issues that we already took care of! The shelter staff actually reached out to FKC because they were so attached to him and couldn't bring themselves to put him down, and we happily took him on.

Whoever adopts Bobby is going to be very happy to have snatched him up! He'll be at our adoption event this Saturday from 10-2 @ the E. Bidwell Petco in Folsom if you want to come meet him!

Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day! Did you know black cats are less likely to get adopted than other cats? They have the lowest adoption rate at 10% and the highest rate of euthanasia at 74.6%.

Here at Fat Kitty City we have a large number of black cats. Some are available for adoption and some are victims of the black cat stigma and will likely be permanent residents of the sanctuary. We adore our sooty kitties and believe they're just as lovable as other cats! Do yourself a favor and adopt a black cat!!

Meet Bodie! This handsome fluffball is 4 years old neutered male, and obviously has been well loved and well fed.
His loving owner took a bad fall and will not be able to come home for quite some time, and when she does, it won't be safe for her to keep Bodie as he is a potential trip hazard. This is breaking her heart, so we are trying our best to help her find her best friend and constant companion the best new home possible.
Bodie usually sleeps with his owner every night, and he spends most of the day hanging out next to her. He is a very sweet boy, talkative and friendly, and very affectionate. In a new home it may take him several days to warm up, but he is extremely treat motivated and definitely will come around and feel comfortable with his new person with time. He just needs someone who will understand that this whole situation of losing his mama and having multiple strangers coming in and out of his home has been extremely traumatizing. For this reason he may not present himself in the best light on first introductions, but we promise you, he is a very good boy!

Cat of the Week: Minnie 💕

Minnie is a miracle cat! She was scheduled for euthanasia at a shelter after she was confiscated from an animal cruelty case. She spent years of her life in a dog crate inside a home with more than 70 crates of animals without fresh air or sunlight. She was housed with multiple cats with little room to move in a cage filled with f***s and urine. She was never let out to exercise and had minimal human companionship.

After her ordeal, FKC rescued her and another cat from being euthanized. Minnie has come such a long way. Even after years of neglect and abuse by human hands, Minnie still loves people and is eager for attention and affection. She truly is a miracle cat! She's one of our "greeters" and likes to be near the volunteers while they work. She can be very chatty as well!

We received some heartbreaking news about our sweet Baby Jane this week.

She was recently adopted and spent a lot of time bonding with her new mom. Baby Jane was so happy to have a home after being abandoned by her last family! Her new mom loves her so much, but the other cat in the home just wouldn't accept her. Baby Jane kept getting attacked and was returned to us for her own safety. We're so sad to see her get so close to her dream just to be back at square one!

Baby Jane did so well in a home, nothing that happened was her fault. She's sweet and such a little darling. She even has a playful streak! We'd love to see her dream come true. Please contact us if you can give Baby Jane a loving home!

Attention all cheese lovers!Meet Feta, our adorable, cuddly, goofy and sweet boy who just arrived! When this guy isn't asleep in your arms, he's on his back making air biscuits and purring or skipping after you with his fluffball of a tail in the air. This 12 week old flame point is in foster with our other adorable boy, Swiss (10 week old white dsh who is deaf), and the two of them have become best friends!

Meet Cricket (black dsh m/n) and Nugget (orange tabby m/n)
6 months old and bonded, these brothers are looking for their forever home.
Currently at our Folsom Petco location off of E. Bidwell, these two sweet and social boys have not had the best beginning. Fat Kitty City saved these boys, along with their mom and older siblings, when they were living in the back of a truck in a small crate during the intense heat wave we recently had. They have remained trusting and friendly throughout their ordeal, and deserve only the happiest of endings.

Cat of the Week: Jaci!

This week we're featuring one of our most fun kitties! Jaci is our resident tree-dweller, tour guide, and head of our food storage room patrol team. Everyone knows this little monkey for her huge personality, whether she's trotting up to you for pets, leaping into your lap the moment you sit down, or looking down at you from the highest and most ridiculous perch she can find.

Jaci is only 2 years old! She was found by a good samaritan and had her tail amputated due to a severe injury. We think being tailless just adds to her charm, and the fact that cats use their tails for balance makes her climbing skills even more impressive.

While we love having Jaci as an honorary employee, she would much prefer to have a home of her own. She will have to be the only cat in your household since other kitties tend to stress her out.

We think Jaci would thrive in a family of active and adventurous people. Do you like going on walks or weekend hikes? Jaci is harness trained and can come along! You might also have seen her joining a yoga class recently in a video we posted! Are you ready for your new best friend? Because Jaci is!

Meet our sweet and special boy Swiss! Swiss is a white neutered male who is about 12 weeks old and adoption ready.
Swiss was found living in a feral colony in the Po***ck Pines area and it is a miracle he survived out there, because not only is his coloring all wrong to camouflage from predators, but he is also deaf!
This little boy loves other cats, is social and friendly, is an amazing snuggler, and does not let his lack of hearing affect him in the least.

This week's Cat of the Week is Patty!

Patty, aka Pattycakes, was left behind in an apartment after her owner passed away. When the family found her they knew nothing about her and planned to let her loose on the streets. Thankfully, she ended up in the care of Fat Kitty City.

Understandably, Patty was very scared and shut down when she arrived at the sanctuary. She got sick and we almost lost her. We think her broken heart was just too much to bear but Patty pulled through. If you saw Patty today you would have never guessed that! She has blossomed into a sweet, sassy, lovely little lap cat and she yearns for a home of her own again.

Kelly has had some struggles in life. Having to live in a home with a hoarder is a difficult life for a cat. The only love she knew was from her her kitty companions and the one person who loved her unconditionally. It wasn't until that one person died and left her and her companions all alone only to have a caregiver who had no compassion for animals caring for them and threaten to throw them on the street. Thankfully Kelly is safe and in a loving foster home showing her loving personality and hoping for a loving home of her own. My name is Milton. I am a 1.5 year old male. I was discovered as a stray in search of food and a safe place to hang out. That's when a compassionate Good Samaritan found me and Fat Kitty City came to my rescue.

I'm a very affectionate boy and love having my head rubbed and chin scratched. I get along with my foster dogs and adore people! I like other cats - if they are feline-friendly. I am a happy-go-lucky kitty who loves to play! I am curious, gentle and adore human attention.

Meet Jellie! He's a 3-month old newly rescued little boy. Sadly his twin brother was killed by a car before we could rescue him. He suffered the same condition he had. We are not sure what is affecting Jellie, but he is currently under treatment for possibly a severe bacterial infection which has caused him to lose the ability to walk properly. Jellie and his brother were left by their owners to fend for themselves outside when they could barely even hold their heads up. When we saw the video the good samaritan sent us we had to rescue him immediately.

Jellie is affectionate, purrs non-stop, loves to play with his toys, and is learning how to stabilize his body. He even uses his litterbox!!! We will continue providing medical care for him, but are looking for a foster and eventually an adoptive home. If you have experience with special needs kitties and are interested please reach out!

HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR NEW FRIENDS Airport Pet Clinic in Cameron Park. The new owners and staff were amazing today!!!

We needed help with surgeries and their team jumped into gear and took in our patients for us. They did an excellent job and gave our kitties the best of care. It was our first time meeting Dr. Manat Kamboji. She and her staff are wonderful. We will definitely entrust our sanctuary kitties and kittens in their care and look forward to our new partnership with them!!!
