Dr. Longhua Guo is the researcher that we worked with to investigate the genetics of the Lemon Frost Leopard Gecko morph, and today he is at our facility working on his next Leopard Gecko research project. No rest for us! Steve just got home from Tinley last night, and now we are gearing up for the San Luis Obispo Reptile Expo this weekend. This is a new show for us, and we are excited to be able to offer our animals to new customers. At the show we will have our full selection of Leopard Geckos, Western Hognose Snakes, Fat Tail Geckos, Knobtail Geckos, Crested Geckos, Kingsnakes, and Corn Snakes. We are headed home after an amazing weekend at Tinley! We had a great show! Thank you everyone that stopped by our table to say hello.
Andrew decided to start his first gecko project and got an awesome pair of Strophrurus ciliaris from Joe Hupp. I picked up a fantastic trio of Super Dalmatian Cresteds. Can’t wait to get those breeding!
Tinley is always an awesome weekend where us reptile nerds can come together to be one big family. I look forward to seeing everyone again in March! Hopefully we will be vending again.

Thank you everyone that stopped by our tables at the NARBC Tinley Park show today! We had a great day and are excited for tomorrow. Our table can be found by turning left when you walk in, against the front wall. We are right across from Mike Wilbanks. I didn’t bring our big sign, just a few little ones. We hope to see you there!
I’m on my way to the NARBC Tinley Park reptile show, and Andrew gets to come too! I figured a Gecko Symposium and a reptile show would be more educational for Andrew than a few days of school, right?!?
I was able to score some table space at the show last minute, so I will be vending with Pangea at the show (thanks Pangea!) I brought some our best Leopard Geckos, Knobtail Geckos, and Fat Tail Geckos to offer at the show.
We are looking forward to a fun day at the Gecko Symposium tomorrow and an awesome weekend at the show. Hope to see you there!

2023 is my son Andrew's 5th year breeding corn snakes! In his first year, he only hatched a few dozen, but now he is hatching a few hundred! He is working diligently to get them all feeding well on F/T pinkies. This weekend at the Sacramento Reptile Show, Andrew will be ready to offer the first of his 2023 corn snakes. I have always taught my kids to look for opportunities to make extra money, and then save their money for something that they really want. Yesterday, Ben achieved his dream. Ben is well known at the California reptile shows as the kid who runs around the show selling origami foxes for $1, and he also donates his origami fox creations to the USARK auctions. He sells a lot at the shows, and has many regular customers that buy from him at each show. For many months, Ben has been saving his origami fox money to buy a pair of leachianus. Yesterday we went to visit Shane’s collection at , and Ben got a pair of pure GTA leachies. Thank you Shane for the tour of your awesome collection, and the awesome pair of geckos. Ben can't wait to raise them up and breed them! Thank you to all that have supported and encouraged Ben at the reptile shows!

is here and today we’re discussing one of the foundational Leopard Gecko genes - the Blizzard! 🤍❄️ The Blizzard gene was discovered by Jay Villa from Prehistoric Pets in 1995 and is one of the first recessive genes found in Leopard Geckos. Blizzard babies hatch with no pattern and with a white/grey body color with varying degrees of yellow. The heads of the babies often have a dark patch which fades as they grow. As an adult, the body color remains similar to how it hatched and Blizzards can have “paradox” spotting on the body. The Blizzard gene is a base morph that can be combined with other recessive and codominant traits. Some of the most popular combinations are the Blazing Blizzard, Diablo Blanco, and White Knight.

It’s 😆 ! Today we’re highlighting the one and only Murphy Patternless Leopard Gecko. This gene was first produced in 1991 by Pat Murphy and has the distinction of being the first discovered recessive gene in captive bred leopard geckos. The gene completely removes all spots and banding patterns creating an animal with a solid, yellow base color as an adult. Interestingly enough, the babies hatch with a very busy "camouflage" type of pattern that fades as they age. Swipe to see the visual difference between a baby and a full-grown adult. 💛
Here at Geckos Etc., we are working on increasing the saturation of the body color and the carrot tail features in our Murphy Patternless line. In addition, we are also working with many combination morphs using this gene. The Murphy Patternless is a fun recessive to work with because it is a very powerful gene that when combined with other genes, it creates unique combination morphs with interesting spots and patterns.

It has come to our attention that a scammer created a clone of the Geckos Etc. page, and last night posted comments within our Hognose Giveaway post to tell a lot of people they had won. The scammer instructed the winner they needed to go to an external website page that was a replica of the Geckos Etc. website to register and enter their credit card info to claim their prize. We became aware of this when we woke up this morning, and have banned this scammer and removed their comments. Our Hognose Giveaway is still going on, and the winner will be announced Monday when the contest ends. No payment will be necessary. The contest is completely free, including the shipping cost.
This isn't the first time our page has been the target of scammers. They usually target our page by responding to comments with external links, and usually make their posts during the overnight hours when we are not closely monitoring our page. Although this scammer has been banned, unfortunately they will likely be back with a new fake account.
PLEASE be careful of scams like this on our page, or other pages that you follow. We do our best to police our page, but do not want anyone to get scammed.

Geckos 101: Knowledge level - Advanced. At first glance, can you guess which one is the male and which is female? This is a tricky one! However, there are a few telltale signs to help differentiate females from males - without having to "check under the hood!" Ladies typically have a more pear-shaped appearance, carrying most of their weight in their belly area or sometimes tail. A male, however, will evenly distribute his fat and muscle throughout his entire body, thickening up in his arms and legs, abdomen, and lastly tail. Males usually have larger upper bodies and wider heads/necks compared to females. Can you tell which is which? Let us know below ⬇️
