The wild garden outside is as confused as I am. It’s warm, it’s cold, it rains, and as soon as my whole back and front yard look like lakes, the sun comes out. I wear tank tops with thick flannels over them because I never know if I’m going to be hot or cold.

The lemon balm is abundant, the borage is flowering, my fruit tree and vines all have new blossoms on them. It’s weird, because you want to go out and plant things, but you also know that some more freezes are coming.

Meet Ida & Isobel, two herbal witches. They love tending their flowers and their herbs under the Moonlight , and make beautiful healing magical teas and tinctures. Their garden runs wild, and the magic runs high.

With their tools in their hand, they stride out in the garden and work the land. But they are also magic little witches, and they each have a sparkly brooch that they received from their Oma when they were just wee witches. Oma told them as long as they have their brooches, they will always be connected, and they would always be able to communicate with each other no matter how many miles are between them

These little witches are handmade from beginning to end. With lots of love and moon magic. Their aprons are made from small linens I found at an estate sale. You may remember the story, three sisters live together in a house and collected antiques and linens. by the time I got around to the estate sale, I was practically given a giant suitcase of linens because no one wanted them. Of course I had to take them home and save them. Many hours of washing and sorting, and now the linens of the three sisters are being Used and loved by other sisters. The fabric, and the accessories I use are also all estate sale treasures. I always think the people are looking down and are happy that their treasures are adorning these magical little witches. Enjoy!!

If you have been following me for a while, you may know that this family loves old cars. LOVES.

not everyone appreciates fine old things, and they send the law 😂. Several times. Nothing illegal here, ma’am. Imagine telling me you don’t like my cars, and telling me there is a car per house limit in the county. I just checked the county law, there is no limit to the amount of cars you can own, as long as they are registered and run. Who knew?

So my question is: Does anybody have a car for sale that’s pre-1975 and under $500? Beauty is negotiable, but must run.

Thank you!!!!!! Reaching 1K followers may not seem a big deal. But it is for me. To me, it means that there are people out there who enjoy my Witches, treasure hunts, ramblings, my wine postings from the front yard, my full moon musings, the wild garden, and my sporadic “vintage” car posting (funny how all my cars just used to be old, now they are vintage 😂. As am I😎), etc.

I am nosy, and I love perusing your Instagram posts. Plus, I really do still get excited when you leave me comments. Sometimes it takes me longer to respond, but that’s in my genes🧙‍♀️.

Share a song?😂 Am I the only one who thinks it’s strange to share a song when I’m literally sharing almost every other aspect of my life with you?

what is a lot more exciting to me is that I am at 999 followers. I feel like after 1000 followers monumental things could happen. 👻 who is going to be follower number 1000? Will they like my song?😎
I am in the middle of giant blurbs of dust, building my new creative workspace. I’m taking a break. Maybe I’ll wait for 1000 followers to continue.👍.

So here’s one for all my cosmic witches. Not only have I had some pretty gnarly nerve pain in the last week or so, I’ve also had several knife incidents 🎃. Stabbed myself in the hand, then I dropped my chef’s knife and it cut my leg. You can see it’s healing, but it did give me a little slice. And this morning I cut myself in the thumb. is there some weird spirit in the air I am not aware of? Do I need to protect myself from a clumsy spell?👻

After unsuccessfully looking for a local source for rabbit pelts, I went online. Today they came and I am so excited because the pelts are gorgeous, and is a Native American company so I know they were handled respectfully.

Here is my attempt at my Oma’s Dampfnudel. 😳. Once again, I was wishing my younger self wasn’t such an a$$ and would have listened when someone was trying to teach me something. You know how you always read those posts where they say: “What would you tell your younger self?”.

Well, young Heike: PAY ATTENTION!!! Because old Heike is going to spend hours and hours trying to figure out recipes. My mother will have mercy on me and show me how to do these the right way. But I will never be able to re-create my dad’s sauce. That haunts me in my dreams. My father had a food truck back in the day when it wasn’t trendy and sold Mexican food. My father was not Mexican, but made the best damn taco sauce, and people came from far away for his food. And because he used to make me help make everything from scratch, I hated it so much. I never paid attention when he made the sauce. I have tried numerous times to re-create it with no luck.

I’m writing this for all of you (including my children) who still have the humans to go with the recipe👍

Letting the sun do its magic this morning.🧙‍♀️

I just read an article that said natural medicine is regaining popularity. So many people put their trust in Pharma, to be disappointed with inefficiency & high cost. Not to mention the side effects. Pharmaceuticals come with their own place and story. I am not against them, but they have not helped me at all and so I’m going back. After about three years of western medicine and trying all kinds of medication‘s for my nerve pain, I have realized that I am one of those people that needs the balancing and rooting medicine of Mama Earth.

Natural medicine takes time and patience, not some thing our society lives in right now. But honestly, if you have walked the path of chronic pain with all its tentacles, patience is something you can deal with. I will call it Anticipation.

with that said, I went to share the remedy I’m working on. I have never worked with comfrey root in its natural state, even though I have this beautiful family of it over my backyard. Thanks to a little flower I picked up at my friend. house many years ago❤️. After trying to dig out a piece of the root yesterday, I realized why people call this an invasive plant. The roots are strong, like cement. When you clean and cut them, you can already feel the medicine. No wonder this was such an important plant to our ancestors!

I know it’s officially fall, but the witchy garden is having a second wind. The herbs are happy that we have a few days to breathe and it’s not 100°. I just came out here to see what shenanigans Max was up to, I had to start picking some of this lemon balm for the winter.

To my friends who were close enough to come by: come get some lemon balm and wild bergamot for your winter tees. To those of you who can’t come by I see some relaxing & restoring , lemon balm & bergamot tea mix in your future. 😘

Hello friends! I’ve spent the last two days washing and sorting all these fabulous linens. It just amazes me how much work people put into these. I’m sure they’re happily watching me relish and take care of their pieces. But I can only keep so many. I have decided to start, bundling them and putting them up for sale. If you’re interested in vintage linens, these will make a great Holiday gift, especially with a KitchenWitch 😀. That is not just a shameless plug, it is also an announcement because the witches that are being blessed by the full moon tonight will be going up on the Etsy store soon.

My old books, share stories of cordials, wines & spirits, soaked with healing herbs. These concoctions would be savored from morning to night.

On my mission to regain my health and strength, this is one of my first concoctions that is finished just in time for the full moon❤️. Vodka steeped in healing herbs, including st. John’s Wort, Slullcap, Milky Oats, Rosehips. In the fridge, I have white wine with Conquefoil flowers for a night cap. He should have seen my doctors face when I told him I think it’s healthier to drink a shot of vodka with Herbs in the morning then taking pills.😂

Everything you see here for this homemade pasta sauce was grown within 20 feet of this cutting board. It will be paired with homemade pasta, the eggs coming from a local backyard chicken keeper. I do have to order my flour from , but that’s a family owned mill with ancient grains, so it passes.

ideally, there will be a day where at least 80% of what is eaten in this house will be from the garden or at least from local garden/farmers. I don’t do this because I’m a radical homesteader, I do this because I’m trying to figure out where my chronic pain is coming from. One of my targets is the food I eat. By buying or sourcing local, not only do I know exactly what I’m putting in my body, but I’m also supporting others who grow things with love. The food is not altered so it can be stored or transported. Everyone needs to take a real good look at what they’re putting in their mouth, and when you do, you may be shocked.

If you use natural brushes if you use natural brushes for dry brushing, hair brushing, etc. take a moment today to rinse out your brushes and let them dry in the sun, this ensures that they dry all the way and don’t get moldy. I use .bronnersoriginal Sals Suds for this (this is one of my favorite cleaners for everything including laundry spots).

When none of the pills work.

When the fast fix is normal, and restoration is not in the schedule, Pharma has a whole array of Band-Aids for us. Over the past YEARS I have tried just about every pill for chronic nerve pain. I also tried all the ones that are for other ailments, but are used for nerve pain. None of them work.

A little out of desperation and a little because I’m stubborn, I’m digging into the roots. I am studying. I am experimenting and brewing. I am stepping away from “normal”. I am forcing myself to stay consistent. Consistency is something that I lost a long time ago, because I didn’t need it.

no animals or meddling neighbors are being hurt during these experiments🧙🏻‍♀️

The cold has snaked its way through our family, so I’m busting out the big guns. In my opinion, food is the one of the biggest healers we have at our disposal. The soup will knock a cold right out of you Just sauté some onions, lots of garlic, fresh ginger, and fennel seed in butter until browned, and then add a head of cabbage, sliced in fairly fat slices. Add some carrots and sweet potato. Cover with chicken broth, salt, and Cheyenne pepper. Cook out a low roll for about 30 minutes. You could add some fresh thyme and parsley. hey guys! I am looking for some parts for my new baby, this 1978 AMC Pacer. Mainly: Passenger Tail light Steering Column Interior plastic trim We will probably be needing some more parts as we go, but these are the main parts right now. Found some on eBay already for outrageous prices so I thought I would send it out into the Universe 😎. Did your family have a Pacer? Would love to see pictures! Plum vodka season is starting y’all!! ❤️ I started making this plum vodka when we still had two plum trees, and I just got overwhelmed with fruit. By the time I got to picking it or making anything with it, it was already too far gone. But it’s never too far gone for this! ❤️ Last year we didn’t have any plums, and neither did our friends. It just doesn’t taste the same with store-bought plums, and so my inventory dwindled a couple of months ago. I can’t wait to dig into this new batch on a hot Summer night. ! P.S. This works well with peaches and berries too. You have to experiment, the sugar really brings out the taste of the fruit but some fruits just don’t have any good taste to start with I use 40% alcohol, because it’s hard to get a higher Percentage here in California. 40% comes out very smooth, and I’ve never had an issue with anything going bad. #greenwitch #kitchenwitch #fruit #growyourown #fallenfruit #plums vodka #plumvodka #vodka

People always ask me if I don’t feel weird about buying dead people stuff. I don’t. Actually I feel great about it. If I buy something to keep in my house, you can be assured that it has a great vibe. I often walk into homes where I can literally bond with the person that lived there, and taking their things home and using them is an honor. With that said, I sage everything. I have also stepped into houses and turned around and walked right back out because the energy creeped me out immediately. First assessment this morning of one side of the garden after being gone for a month. Right before we left, we set up the watering system, realizing this morning that one of the hoses had popped off, so nothing was hooked up. All of this happened with the rain & sun 😂. The rain is here🌧️ While many of my friends are digging themselves out of snow, we are getting ready for several days of rain and flooding. I’m sorry, but I cannot deal with a wet dog 24/7. I have been trying to find a rain over for Max that is long enough and doesn’t have a weird strap that goes over his tail to keep it down. And when they fit over his body, they don’t fit over his head. So I’ve decided to take this jacket (it did not pass the sit out in the rain and drink wine test). I just bought at the thrift store but I’m not really happy with and make him a doggy coat.😂. His current cover is next to the jacket on the floor, I’m just going to cut it and tweak it until it works. As you can see, he is not thrilled.😂😂😂 with being my fit model,.
