There’s an urgent local situation. Three adult cats were left behind in Wheatland when someone moved out of state. We even offered to transport the cats to this person because sometimes people just need an extra helping hand during a difficult time in life. That offer was declined.

While we do our best to prioritize underserved communities like Wheatland, unfortunately we are at max capacity in our rescue and several of our special-needs cats are quite literally bankrupting us. (More on that later). We have no ability to take in these cats space or finance wise.

If anyone is in a position to help, especially other shelters/rescues, we can get you in touch with the proper people. These cats are in need of veterinary care ASAP.

✨ Meet Lucille, the little warrior! ✨
Lucille has been through a lot recently. This beautiful cat faced significant eye issues, just like her mom and siblings. Due to her condition, poor Lucille had to undergo double eye surgery and have both of her eyes removed. 😢
But don't worry! Cats are incredibly resilient, and we're hopeful that laser therapy will help her overcome this healing hurdle. Her amazing foster family and the dedicated team at Mission Meow have been an absolute blessing for this sweet girl. 🐾

SEVEN ADOPTIONS yesterday including Mama Magnolia here- mama to our famous orange kitties with the eye/ear issues.

She was a very good mama and absolutely loves other cats and dogs. And while she isn’t feral, she is just not a fan of people so we decided to find her a lovely horse property where she will be extremely well cared for. She can frolic all she wants and there’s plenty of other cats for her to play with.

 We also promised her that we would continue to take care of her five orange babies and find them wonderful homes once it’s their time. 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

Lucille & Marcel updates: Our brave little foster kitten, Lucille, is pushing through a rough surgery recovery with her remarkable resilience. Unfortunately our sweet girl has developed a post-op infection, but with some antibiotics and lots of TLC from her foster family, she’s sure to heal soon. With your well wishes, Lucille will overcome this challenge. This enucleation recovery may be tougher than usual, but Lucille's strength will aid her in a full recovery soon. The good news is that Marcel and Lucille's ear infections are finally subsiding and they are both feeling more frisky now. Thank you for standing by our incredible foster kittens and for supporting our rescue mission.

Meet Jude!

Jude is a sweet and gentle male 16 week old kitten with a big appetite and an even bigger heart. His favorite pastime is mealtime, but he also has a special fondness for making friends with other pets. Jude gets along well with cats and dogs of all sizes, greeting them with an adorable tail wiggle and affectionate rubs.

While Jude is a bit shy around humans at first, he’s a patient soul who warms up at his own pace. Once he feels safe, he’ll surprise you with his love for snuggling. He’ll come to you when he’s ready and reward you with his soft purrs and contented cuddles. Though he’s not a fan of being held, he adores being petted and will gladly spend quality time curled up beside you.

Our loveable blind girl Lucille is recovering nicely from her double enucleation (eye removal) surgery with our foster mama Amber. Lucille’s brother Marcel is done with his eye surgery recovery and he is loving his romping recess time from their foster room. Lucille mostly wants to cuddle, but she is starting to play and explore more, which is touching to see. Unfortunately they’re both still contending with ear infections, but they are being great patients.

I have a habit of picking a cozy spot and sticking to it for the day—sometimes it might seem like I haven’t moved at all! But don’t worry, I’ll always come out for meals and then retreat back to my “spot of the day.” I like to mix it up, so you’ll see me rotate to a new favorite place almost daily.

I’m a quiet introverted kitty, I don’t meow much, and I’m not the type to demand attention, but I absolutely adore being loved on. I’m all about the gentle, peaceful moments we can share together.

Well well well! Look who is exploring and owning the place! Lucille! 👏🏻😻Her adjustment to being blind has been practically seamless! These cats never cease to amaze us! She wanted out of her familiar foster room to exploring the house. You can see in videos below how she’s learning to trust herself by jumping down, etc. She’s even learning how to navigate the cat trees. Marcel is still very protective of her and is always cleaning her. She goes in for her postop appointment tomorrow! THANK YOU THANK YOU to all of our wonderful donors who made this possible and to foster moms Maria and Amber for doing such an amazing, patient job with these babies!

Marcel and Levi wanted everyone to see how great their eyes look after their procedures and ulcers have healed! 👏🏻👏🏻🧡🧡They are SO much more comfortable without their eyelashes scraping against their eyes!

Our dear little Mission Meow foster kitten, Lucille, is back home and resting after a big day on Saturday. Our sweet girl had to undergo surgery to have her compromised eyes removed. One of our incredible vet partners, Dr. Kristina Netherwood at the Veterinary Medical Center of Folsom along with her wonderful staff, took excellent care of Lucille. We’re deeply grateful for their kin and for helping us get her in so quickly, as she had been suffering and needed immediate care.This surgery has been particularly tough for all of us at Mission Meow. It’s heartbreaking to see Lucille like this, but we know her future is now brighter—with less pain, no more constant vet visits, and no need for ongoing eye treatments. Lucille is currently being fostered by our amazing foster mom Amber, who has five blind cats of her own. She couldn’t be in better hands! Blind cats truly make the most wonderful companions, and we’ve witnessed this time and again. Once Lucille recovers from her surgery, she’ll be ready to shine and live her best life. Foster mom Amber and the nanny can are keeping a close eye on her to ensure she’s comfortable and healing well. Lucille’s brother, Marcel, is especially happy to have his sister back home. He’s been cleaning her, snuggling with her, and being the most attentive and loving big brother. Thank you all for your continued support as we help Lucille through her recovery. So tomorrow is the big day. Lucille is set to have a double enucleation (eye removal) surgery. It’s been an emotional roller coaster for all of those who cared about Lucille. Because of her eyelid agenesis and cataracts we’ve made the difficult decision along with several veterinarians to remove her eyes while she’s young so she can adapt more easily to being blind.
Her first foster mama Maria took her out for an outside adventure so she could soak up all of the sights of the outside world for the first and last time. 🥹You can see the video link below in the comments.

Her current foster mama Amber will make sure her last moments of vision will be of her brother Marcel, who will be waiting for her when she comes back home from surgery. He will help be her guide kitty.🧡

I spy some eyes! Levi is responding well to treatment for his eye ulcer. He is in much less pain. He goes in for another post cryotherapy check up tomorrow.

Lucille has her double eye enucleation surgery scheduled for this Saturday. More details to come.
