Holidays & hurricanes—I'm here! How did I become Carrie About Cats? Really I think I have always been! Professionally it began with volunteering with Front street and Bradshaw shelters and then Lapcats Rescue in California 8 years ago. In Soflo it started the day before Hurricane Irma arrived when I marched into Broward shelter and found it eerily empty. I asked what I could do and they sent me ho
me with the last kittens in the building, a litter of sick babies. Those kittens, Irmie, Harvey, Andrew, and Jose had no idea how lucky they were! We had a good time riding out the storm in my bathroom. Next, I took in Ophelia, a very sickly kitten with ringworm who I held on my lap for days just to make sure she survived. She did! I had to find her a home with people I knew and trusted rather than send her back to the shelter. I wanted more control over who got my kiddos, so I joined Good Karma Pet Rescue. I love Good Karma! With their support I get to take care of orphans, helping them grow strong, and then assist in their adoption. I can’t save them all, but I can do something! And this is what I’m good at. So, while I recover from my previous career of being a social worker I may as well do professionally what I love to do personally. Your support helps me rescue lots of abandoned kittens and to cover my own expenses. So, thank YOU for helping save babies!

The Hurricane Preparedness Tax Holiday starts tomorrow (June 1-14). Pet supplies qualify, too! 🐱💰
Supplies necessary for the evacuation of household pets. For purposes of this exemption, necessary supplies means the noncommercial purchase of:
Bags of dry cat or dog food weighing 50 or fewer pounds and with a sales price of $100 or less per bag
Portable kennels or pet carriers with a sales price of $100 or less per item
Over-the-counter pet medications with a sales price of $100 or less
Pet beds with a sales price of $40 or less per item
Cat litter weighing 25 or fewer pounds and with a sales price of $25 or less per item
Leashes, collars, and muzzles with a sales price of $20 or less per item
Pet pads with a sales price of $20 or less per box or package
Manual can openers with a sales price of $15 or less per item
Collapsible or travel-sized food bowls or water bowls with a sales price of $15 or less per item
Cat litter pans with a sales price of $15 or less per item
Pet waste disposal bags with a sales price of $15 or less per package
Hamster or rabbit substrate with a sales price of $15 or less per package
Cans or pouches of wet dog food or cat food with a sales price of $10 or less per can or pouch or the equivalent if sold in a box or case
The number of items that can be purchased during the sales tax holiday is unlimited. Items purchased online will be sales tax-exempt if the order is placed during the qualifying period.
Florida’s annual Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday gives residents some relief as they get their storm kits together.

OK, now sibling Veggi has got the sawdust face 😹 I still have lots of questions, but I noticed the hole they go 💩 in is very deep—all the way to the bottom, so I think the motive is digging the deepest hole possible with your nose like a mole. Stay tuned🕵🏼♀️ while I saw this mystery.

In Northern California these would get stuck in our pets all the time, their toes. I even had a cat who had one in her nose. If left untreated. It would’ve worked its way into her lungs. Talk about the dangers of w**d.

Hey everybody, meet Forrester! When he was only a couple months old, he was living in the engine of a Subaru on the car lot. And he somehow had a broken leg!
was awesome and made sure he was given to the right people, in this case
He got a cast on his leg and after several weeks of cage rest he is now ready to stretch.
Forester is funny because he’s super awkward, not only from the muscle atrophy, but also from being stuck in a cage where he couldn’t really play or do anything!
He was also alone. So I just paired him with Swiftie, who is a singleton too, and they’re awkwardly figuring out how to be cats together 🐈⬛ 🐈

As promised, here is Swiftie’s crazy feature. See those armpits? That’s not a reflection. She is all black, except for hairy white armpits. Somehow it fits her wacky personality to have white hairy armpits. This girl is too much.

New silly kitten alert! Swiftie was found chilling alone on a Miami golf course. I don’t think she liked it because she was meowing her head off. Now she’s with me and I swear she is having a ball. She’s cuddly, she’s hilarious. she has literally already found all the toys, climbed to the top of all the cat trees, and done all the things. She’s barely been here 48 hours. I love her!
She’s accepting applications now. We think shes about four months old.
there’s one more hilarious thing about her. You’ll have to wait for the next post to find out 😼

So I'm watching my favorite lawn mowing channel and the guy finds an injured cat in the w**ds. He calls around TX for some help, but no one (even the city) will help. Finally he reaches a rescue called Edgar and Ivys Cat Sanctuary Incorporated who agree to help the kitty.
Here is the crazy part--
This silly lawn mowing show has MILLIONS of fans so when he posts a Go Fund Me to support this awesome rescue, they BLOW IT UP. In 6 days, they've raised $135k!
The rescue is freaking out. How cool is this? Their fate changed in an instant.

The airport kitties are out and about! I had people over on Saturday and they huddled in the bathroom like weirdos, but today they’re acting like they own the place. Crazy kids. They love the sunshine and I think the sunshine loves them too.
