Follow for more When I first met Poppy, this little noodle would absolutely lose her mind at the sight of any person. She’s got that classic Schnauzer-style alert system built in — and yes, Schnauzers are known for their sharp watchdog instincts and quick alarms — so every passerby became her personal mission to announce. We lovingly called her the Neighborhood Police.

But look at her now.

With patient training, lots of consistency, and gradual exposure, Poppy is becoming a thoughtful, observant people-watcher. Instead of barking her head off, she spots a person… pauses… and then looks back at her handler as if to say, “Hey, someone’s over there. Just letting you know.” No meltdown. No chaos. Just awareness.

We started small on her street. Then we took short walks to introduce more people. And today? She’s at an outdoor shopping center, calmly noticing people and checking in beautifully with her handler.

She’s still on her journey, but wow — she’s come so far. Proud of this little girl.
Eventually, we will replace the food with lots of praise when she looks back at her handler!

Meet Lulu the Bernedoodle! Inside the house, she walks like a dream—focused, calm, and connected. But the moment we head outdoors? The smells, sights, and excitement send her into overdrive. 🌳😅

So we’re building the foundation where she CAN succeed first… indoors with minimal distractions. This is where focus grows, skills strengthen, and confidence builds. Once she’s consistent inside, then we’ll bring those skills outside and set her up for real-world success. 💪✨

Training isn’t about rushing—it’s about meeting the dog where they are. Proud of you, Lulu! 🖤🐾

🚪 Does your dog dart out the front door the second it opens?
Whether it’s guests coming in or you heading out, door dashing can be dangerous—and stressful!

Meet Poppy 👋🐾
She’s learning a super important life skill: waiting at the door until she’s invited to go outside. We start by opening the front door just a crack, before the screen door, and reinforce her for staying put. Little by little, we raise the criteria—more door movement, longer waits—until she can sit calmly even when the screen door is fully open.

With consistency, clear communication, and lots of positive reinforcement, dogs learn that calm behavior opens doors (literally!).

If your dog struggles with door manners, training this skill is a game changer. 💛🐶

Little Cookie is the cutest thief around — if a paper towel or eraser drops, that’s it… she’s off and running like she just won a prize! 🏃‍♀️💨

We’re working on teaching her a super useful exercise — “Leave it!” — so that if something important (or unsafe) ever falls on the floor, she’ll know to pause instead of pounce.

Today she practiced with a paper towel and a pink eraser, and she did amazing! 🌟
Training moments like these are such a great reminder that even playful mischief can turn into learning opportunities with patience and positive reinforcement. 💕🐾

Lulu is a 15-month-old mini Bernedoodle in the thick of adolescence — a stage where impulse control is still very much under construction. At our consultation, it was clear she didn’t yet have an “off button.” Her energy and enthusiasm are wonderful, but like many young dogs, she struggles to settle and regulate herself.

We’re going to be focusing on mat work — teaching Lulu that calmness can be rewarding. The goal is to help her choose relaxation, not just tire her out. Over time, she’ll learn that her mat means peace, safety, and good things.

We’ll start with short moments of calm and gradually build duration as her self-control muscles strengthen. This isn’t just training — it’s emotional regulation practice for dogs.

Adolescence can be a wild ride, but with structure, patience, and positive reinforcement, Lulu will learn that slowing down can feel just as good as zooming around. 💜

Ziggy is 15 now. He has kidney failure, high blood pressure, no teeth, and what I believe is cognitive decline.
He’s blind, deaf, and moving a little slow. He’s comfortable as can be ❤️❤️ as I’m working very closely with his vet. He still has an appetite and likes his slow walks in the yard.

It feels like having a puppy again — constant care, cleaning, sleepless nights, and strict routines.

When you get a dog, you have to be ready for this part too. It’s a big commitment. It’s a long road, but they deserve to be loved and cared for all the way through it to the end. No one prepares you for it.

Meet Cappuccino, a 9-month-old King Charles Cavalier with the sweetest temperament ☕💛

We’re working on many skills together, and one of the big ones is learning not to pull on the leash.

Here’s the thing — behavior doesn’t just happen out of nowhere. It’s built, step by step.
Pulling on leash is a behavior that’s been reinforced (it gets the dog where they want to go). So to change it, we start by teaching the opposite: that walking next to you pays off instead.

And that starts inside — in a quiet, low-distraction space where she can focus and succeed.
Each time Cappuccino walks next to her person and gets reinforced, her brain is learning:
➡️ “This is the position that works.”
➡️ “This is how I earn good things.”

Only when the behavior is strong inside do we bring it outside — because training follows the laws of learning, not location.

So if your dog pulls on the leash, remember:
✅ Start small.
✅ Train in easy environments first.
✅ Reinforce what you do want.

Every calm, connected step counts. 💕

This smart girl struggled with barking whenever she saw people — a very natural response for a Schnauzer mix, since they’re known to be alert barkers. Her wonderful pet parents reached out for help before she became the neighborhood “watchdog” for every passerby! 📣📣🐾

After just seven sessions, Poppy has made incredible progress. She can now see people and walk past people and even nearby workers without the loud, nonstop barking that used to happen.

I love helping reactive dogs like Poppy learn to feel calm and confident when they see their triggers — whether it’s people, dogs, or anything else that makes them excited or unsure. Watching that transformation never gets old. 💛

There is more work to do but so far I’m very happy with Poppy’s response.

😴💤 Sweet little Cappuccino was so sleepy during our session today — she couldn’t even make it to the end before curling up for a nap!

When that happens, we always let the dog rest. At eight months old, Cappuccino is still very young and needs lots of sleep to grow and process everything she’s learning. 🐾💗

We’ll be scheduling her future sessions at a different time when she’s more alert — but for today, it was all about honoring her needs. In training (and in life), we go at the dog’s pace. ❤️

So happy to see Chloe’s progress — this was not possible just a few months ago. 💛

Chloe used to struggle going outside during the day. Her wonderful pet parent would bring her out just long enough to eliminate, and she’d quickly run back inside. While mornings and evenings were fine, the daylight hours were incredibly difficult for her.

With teamwork, patience, and love — alongside her vet’s support — we focused on desensitization and counterconditioning to help her feel safe and confident again.

And now… seeing her outside during the day, tail up and soaking in the sunshine, is truly amazing. ☀️

✨ This is why I do what I do — to change the lives of dogs and their people alike. ✨

Today was our first day working with Cookie, the one-year-old Maltipoo with a heart full of sweetness and a few big feelings about being touched or picked up. 💕 We’re not sure why certain situations make her uncomfortable, but that’s okay — we’re taking things at her pace, using trust, patience, and positive experiences to help her feel more relaxed and confident. Every small step forward is worth celebrating! 🐾✨
