The applications for Bruce are rolling in! Now it is time to set up meet & greets and find his perfect home. Today he went for a walk downtown Waterville for some socialization in a new area and work on his leash skills. Way to go big boy!

Here is max working at school today with Jana.
He was surrendered to us for biting his owner while under high duress and should have never been put in that situation.
He completed his rehabilitation with us here in Maine and is being fostered in Mass so he can go to school weekly at our training center, continue working on his home manners and socialization with other people as well as dogs.
He will need to be the only pet in his new home with no children under 14. Please reach out if interested in Max.

We,unlike most rescues/shelters, believe in proper obedience training so we can set the dog and new owner up for success. As the dogs that are surrendered to us have a history that a lot of rescues don’t have the time , resources or knowledge to work thru the issues/ behaviors. While we evaluate the dog first and find that most of the time it is a “Good dog-Wrong Home” and if we don’t or can’t help they are in jeopardy of losing their lives.
Bruce has come so far in his training that we will be transitioning him off his pinch collar and onto a British slip leash for training.

Rosebud has come so far in her rehabilitation! For a pup that was surrendered for dog aggression to a girl that loves to run and play in a pack! She shares toys inside and outside without a problem. Especially with her best buddy Brook.  She’s had her first meet and greet this past weekend and we are hoping for some good news in the next couple weeks for her.
Meadow on the other hand decided a solo run around the field was in order on a sunny 🌞 50 degree day! It was so heart warming to see her enjoy herself today after the long road she traveled after her spinal cord stroke back in October! ❤️
Bruce would like to show off his “place “ skills!
“Place” is a command we teach all of our dogs in training. It is an important command for many reasons but most importantly they must be comfortable and understand it. We like to use it for when someone comes to the door, while we are eating (no begging), while we are cooking, hunting or field work or if we just need them in one spot when we cannot watch them. As you can see here,Bruce loves ❤️ his place cot and can hold under all distractions! Even a P&L Market steak 🥩 placed in front of him.

The best thing to do on such a cold 🥶 day is some indoor group training.
Here is a glimpse of Bruce the Dane (who is in the middle of his rehabilitation) and Rosebud the boxer (available for adoption) working their obedience today. We believe that a well trained rescue has a better outcome and chance for success. ❤️
Some sleepy 🥱 pups after a nice long morning hike around the property! Having our pack accept Rosebud into the home today was a huge step in her rehabilitation. She is doing so well running with the pack outside and hanging with the pack inside.

What a beautiful day for some outside play! Rosebud and Brook had a blast this morning running and exploring the property.
Love when the magic happens. Rosebud was surrendered for attacking another dog while on a walk but we had noticed a special interaction between her and Brook when they walked by each other, tail wags here and play bows there, so we decided to start some socialization and then play depending on how things went. Her play started off very dominant, so we could see where a problem could arise with certain dogs but was easily controlled with an e-collar correction and some obedience. Look at them after only a few play/training sessions. So proud of Brook for being her friend and rosebud for being so polite. Dog dog interaction and socialization is always something we like to try with the dogs during the rehab process if we feel as though it will be safe for everyone.
Rosebud went out shopping in Bangor with us this morning to pick up a few things and did amazing! With a few touch ups to her off leash skills and a couple more socialization field trips, she will be ready for adoption.
