Running a rescue is fun but it is also a lot of work especially when you’re doing it on your own. This is Loki, he is a fancy parakeet and honestly one of the sweetest birds I have come to know and love.
This brave little guy way rescued from a random man who was breeding parakeets in horrible conditions. Their cage was outside and partially covered in a tarp. The yard had tons of cats in it and the cage itself was rusted and covered in bird p**p and tons of spilled seed.
From this person I rescued two parakeets Loki and his mate Skadi. They were both very sick and were taken to the Vet soon after. Both birds were overweight and Loki was showing signs of Fatty Liver Disease. After treatment Skadi made a full recovery but Loki did not.
Loki looked and acted perfectly fine for months and everyone thought he was doing great but four nights ago he took a downhill sudden turn. He dropped nearly 1/3 of his weight and became extremely dehydrated and could no longer stand on his perch.
He was rushed to the Vet and is currently being monitored. I am going in tomorrow morning to see how he is doing. God willing he will come home and be fine but the doctors say if not it could be a possibility that he is suffering from a brain tumor. They have done all the tests they can without harming him further or putting him through something he may not come out of. I thank them so much for everything they have done!
If anyone is interested in helping our cost for trying to save him feel free to message me. The entire procedure was over 800.00. Ty again God Bless!
