Ayla's Acres No-Kill Animal Rescue

The organization was named for a gentle Great Dane who was surrendered by her family when she was 18 months old, and went to live at an animal sanctuary for the rest of her life. Ayla’s Acres No-Kill Animal Rescue plans to acquire this 45-acre sanctuary located in Greenville, FL that is managed by full-time, dedicated and experienced resident caretakers. Many of the 300 animals have come from area humane societies that had no room or the animals were unadoptable.

The Challenge – In northeast and north central Florida, more than 30,000 animals are euthanized every year. This region, like many others in our country, faces the challenging problems that result from failure to address and resolve companion animal overpopulation issues. As a result, thousands of animals – many unwanted or abused, end up in shelters, animal control facilities or left homeless and abandoned. This problem is overwhelming for most communities and must be addressed proactively in order to enhance the lives of the people and the animals living there. The Response - Ayla’s Acres No-Kill Animal Rescue Inc. is committed to helping north Florida be a role model for humane animal care and concern. The animal welfare community in Duval County, FL is proactively addressing the overpopulation of animals through aggressive spay and neuter, and Ayla’s Acres strives to extend this model to underserved communities and surrounding counties in northeast and north central Florida. We have established a threefold approach to address the overpopulation problem.
