My latest completed commission... a judge's gift for an agility trial featuring her gorgeous sheltie and adorable mini schnauzer 🐾 First time I fit two pups in one frame!

Each custom portrait is hand drawn layer by layer, laser cut on my xtool P2, then stained/painted. Because of the thickness, I used a wood grain contact paper on the base mdf layer since I couldn't fit another sheet of wood. It's not a fast process by any means (especially since each dog is usually 5-6 layers), but I'd choose quality over quantity any day.

Sometimes materials are too thick or heavy to cut on the lasers, so some good ol fashioned scroll sawing is needed to save the day! (The vibrations of the saw kept moving my camera out of frame 😅).

Would you believe this happy guy just got back from the vet for his yearly exam?!? I never thought vet visits could be so relaxing and drama-free for a dog who has been extremely reactive to other people and dogs his entire life. The difference? Fear Free Vetting! I can't stress enough how much a Fear Free Certified vet has made a difference in Scout's (and my) life since we switched a year ago, and highly recommend them to everyone with pets, especially if they struggle with fear, anxiety, and stress during their vet visits. Scout switched at 11 after his previous vet retired, so it's never too late! We love Danada and Loyal Companions in the western burbs of Chicago, but you can check out fearfreepets.com to search for one close to you.

The world lost a Giant in the field of behavior yesterday. Her book Reaching the Animal Mind inspired me so profoundly, it gave me the last nudge I needed to switch careers, and I proudly bear her name in my dog training certification. It was an honor to meet her, to listen to her, and to learn from her. Thank you for everything, Karen Pryor. 🐾

I don't normally do private lessons, but I made a special trip for this beauty and got a lovely note from her mom: "Haily is waiting for the cheese lady to come back 😊 Haily did awesome today on our walk, we did all the things you showed us yesterday, she waited at the landing, came back to me every time we stopped. I can’t thank you enough!" Happy to be your special cheese dealer any time, Miss Haily!

A name puzzle Christmas gift commissioned for a sweet little girl. I was told her favorite animals were sloths 🦥 and bunnies 🐇, so they were made into puzzle pieces too! Even though the design was simple enough, I had to spend a lot of time hand sanding every piece to make sure there were no sharp edges for little hands. Thankfully her name only had 4 letters 😆

Mix of 1/4 maple, 1/2in Alder and 1/8in birch, laser cut and sanded and painted, about 18 in x 6 in.

Not only did I make a cool fish ornament with engraved acrylic, but I made a cool fish ornament with it's own color- changing LED light! 🫨🎣

I wish I would have discovered this magic earlier in the season... I have a feeling these will be quite popular next year!

Buddie doesn't like having his nails trimmed, so we worked on making him a willing participant in his nail care. This was donated to the shelter recently, and so we wasted no time giving it a try! We started by hiding treats in the small compartment and marked him for scratching the board to try to get the treat out, which earned him a tasty reward. In no time he was having a blast filing his own nails!

This smartest goodest boy Buddie is available for adoption at A.D.O.P.T Pet Shelter in Naperville, IL, and he has been waiting a very long time for his forever family.
