Black 5 year old 14.1 hand grade quarter horse gelding. Needs a mindful rider. He has been used on the ranch, ridden more miles on the trails than you can count, started on the heel side, guns shot off him, ponied colts, drug calves to the fire, and been the first horse saddled for just about any job we’ve needed done. He really shines on the trail, he is an absolute rock crawling machine that is super sure footed. He is small but he can go all day at a very comfortable pace. He’ll follow or lead, doesn’t kick, stands when you stop him, and he’s not buddy sour. He’s easy to load, stands tied, is patient, easy to saddle and bridle, built stout, and is an easy keeper.
The only reason we’re selling him is because he doesn’t appreciate meaningless arena riding since he’s more woah than go and we don’t have time to give every one of our personal horses a consistent job. He really enjoys following a roping dummy, or doing engaging riding in the arena, but loping a million circles is not his jam, he’s not going to make a barrel horse.
He honestly would make a priceless all around dead head family horse but his only quirk holds him back. ‼️He is weary of people. This means he’ll only follow behind you to lead, he’s hesitant about the farrier, will watch you while lunging, can be hard to catch without grain, and will goose if you hop on him too fast. He’s not the type that you can just hop on and go unless he’s being consistently worked, we always lunge him in a couple circles before hopping on. ‼️
He’s located in grand junction, Colorado area. We’re asking $5,500. I’m brutally honest so be prepared to be pleasantly surprised if you come ride him, and feel free to ask me any questions you might have!
