It looks like we reached 2,000 followers a lot sooner than I expected! While we'll still be having a giveaway, it won't be for another month at least. The super dirty leucys I have in mind are still just babies, so we will have to wait till they grow up a bit! 😊

Some more dirty leucy babies we're currently raising! These guys are from A'lotl Floofers 'Oregano' and 'Basil' clutch, and are nephews and nieces of the super dirty 'Bruce' and 'Smudge' clutch I raised last year! 😊 Bruce and Smudge are the grandparents on their mom's side.

***There are three little stragglers that hatched much less development than their siblings and are playing catch up.***

The 'Hollywood' and 'Boomer' clutch from Tina Rehbein are looking nice! There are primarily melanoids and copper melanoids, but I think I might see a single hypomelanistic melanoid.

She's such a spoiled little princess! ❤️

This drop dead gorgeous girl and a few of her siblings suddenly decided to stop eating regularly (and eventually not at all) for several months. We tried everything we could think of to turn things around, but nothing worked.

We were finally able to get her and her brother in to see an aquatic specialist veterinarian, but imaging and testing provided no concrete answers. There was no indication of infection or GI abnormalities, but x-rays did show clinically significant metabolic bone disease from malnutrition. We decided to go with a 12 day course of oral metronidazole in combination with tube feeding (inserting a feeding tube directly into the stomach) a critical care formula.

After the third dosage and feeding, they started eating sparingly on their own (a bite or two every other day), but once we reached the 12 day mark, they both were eating axolotl pellets with occasional pieces of worm every day. We aren't out of the woods yet, but things are looking brighter than they have in a very long time.

Another customer update! This beautiful suspected female was part of a clutch of eggs that was accidentally sent to California for a couple weeks before being correctly sent to our house. They were already two days from hatching when they were shipped, so we were heartbroken opening the box. Shockingly, five little emaciated hatchlings were still alive! We lost two of them that were just too far gone, but the other three made it, and she's one of them! Such a little fighter! ❤️

This handsome boy is still available! He's a RLG (really long gill) melanoid leucistic het axanthic, copper and possibly albino and hypomelanistic. This means that this guy might be an all-het axolotl and an excellent breeding animal or a beautiful pet!

He came from The Mottled Lotl Pinky Pie and Axl Rose clutch and is one of Rapunzel's nephews. 😊

One of my male super dirty Bruce and Smudge holdbacks is feeling better! He hasn't been on a dark surface for a couple months while ill, so he has lightened up considerably, but once he's back to his old self he'll be going in a tank with dark substrate with the other dirty boys. 😊

I'm including a couple photos of him as a juvenile and sub-adult for comparison.

We hear a lot about ammonia toxicity, but nitrite toxicity is a very real danger as well!

Nitrite toxicity. Also known as “brown blood disease” or methemoglobinemia, elevated nitrite levels can have deadly consequences for fish. Nitrite binds with hemoglobin in the blood, kicking off oxygen, so your fish will show signs of respiratory distress no matter how much oxygen you try to add. Best treatment? Water changes!
