Happy Meowther's Day!
Dr. Ellen Burkett founded Beacon to fill a need in the St. Pete community - a community she knows well, having been born and raised in the area. In Dr. Buerkett's words, "We're not just a hospital; we're part of the community." This sentiment is at the core of Beacon Emergency Veterinary Hospital. As she looks to the future, her focus remains on enhancing the services and continuing to serve the community with the same passion and dedication that marked the beginning of her journey.
Meet Dr. Ellen Buerkett, a passionate ER veterinarian and owner of Beacon Emergency Veterinary Hospital, dedicated to serving the St. Petersburg community.

When taking your furry friend to the beach, it is important to pick a spot with adequate shade and pack plenty of fresh water. Also, keep in mind, if the sand is too warm for your feet it's too hot for their paws.

Happy One Year Anniversary with Beacon Emergency Veterinary Hospital Allison! Representing Beacon tonight at American Stages Beauty and the Beast Pets in the Park! Come and get some gear and have some fun.
We had a heartwarming experience here at Beacon Vet Clinic that we just have to share! On Christmas Eve, a family came in with a stray dog they had found who was in desperate need of help. Since it was Christmas Eve, there were no other vet offices open in the area. Thankfully, our doors are always open. It was clear that the precious pup had been mistreated and we are so thankful her new family trusted us to care for her. Directly from the client: "Bottom line- you can tell they were all passionate about what they do and have the animal's best interest at heart. Everyone was kind, they took the time to educate me and provide me with different options as this wasn't my dog and was just trying to get her some immediate care and relief. They were so sweet to Noelle ( we named her in honor of Christmas before leaving their office that day). I would recommend them to anyone."

β¨CCβ¨ Position: Inventory Manager Q: What do you enjoy most about your team or a specific team member? A: I love everyone. I admire Dr. Buerkett and Nathan because they have built Beacon into something different from any other ER hospital. They established amazing values in Beacon, encouraged us to learn more, and helped us grow. With that, everyone is personable and welcoming; there is just an atmosphere of wanting to help. Itβs truly a team. Q: Youβve been in the vet world for 14 years; what animals do you enjoy working with most? A: Cats mostly, but all animals. I love wildlife and squirrels! I used to have a flying squirrel named Peter Parker. Someone had brought him into a previous hospital I worked at; he fell from a tree. He became attached to me as easily as I did to him.β€οΈ Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be? A: To know every language. It would be so useful, and I could feel confident in traveling to all the places I want to go! βοΈπ

Q: What is the most rewarding part of being in your position at Beacon? A: Sending pets home healthy and happy again is the greatest thing. I enjoy watching the owners seeing them healthy again and being able to bring them back home. Q: Is there anyone at Beacon who has helped you grow, or who you look up to? A: I look up to Cassie (CVT). She is a workhorse with so much knowledge. She can do it all, and I strive to be like her the most. Q: What hashtags do you relate to most? Q & A- *Eli* Veterinary Assistant Q: Is there anyone in Beacon you look up to or that has helped you grow? A: Everyone here is great, itβs hard to pick just one. I look up to our manager Cristina, and our nurse Bella. I love their knowledge, and interaction with the clients, as well as patient care. They have taught me so much. Q: Was there a patient you ever connected with or stood out to you the most? A: There was a dog who was neurologically deficient, and was so sweet.
