BG is checking in with a big request! He needs help getting his jaw fixed ❤️. ALSO he has a big announcement at the end (and yes, he is a flame point Siamese with light orange tips and sheds a LOT for those previously asking his coloring)! Mentally he has made HUGE improvements since his neurology visit with Dr. Levine. We were told to NOT sedate him for anything during his Neuro visit for at least 2 weeks, but Dr. Levine really had high hopes that we could fix his jaw sometime soon. He is seeing the amazing Dr. Sabshin at Harmony Vet Care on Wednesday for a second/third opinion. She not only has experience fixing jaws, but she also is no nonsense and to be honest we don’t care how BG looks, we just care he continues to mentally improve. He’s not a normal cat yet, but he is able to groom, he eats on his own, drinks on his own, and CRAVES attention. Do you all remember when we were so concerned we would have to euthanize because he didn’t move for WEEKS?? This progress is nothing short of miraculous. We really just want to see BG succeed in life and at everything ❤️. Dr. Levine recommended The Pet Dentist, but before going there we will see Dr. Sabshin and see what she says. We are always scared of BG seeing a new vet because he was, and still is, severely neurologically impaired. When we took BG to Blue Pearl despite them being told how severely altered he was and them promising what we needed, they then refused it and told us to euthanize… We are SO apprehensive of any new vet seeing BG as we don’t feel his progress should be judged without looking at where he has come from in the last few months. Plummer Pet Hospital has NEVER judged BG and actually helped us stay the course when we discussed euthanasia. Dr. Plummer is why BG is still alive! We LOVE our Vets. But, we must do what’s best so despite our apprehension at seeing another vet. Thankfully we don’t feel like she is “just another vet”. She’s amazing and we appreciate her input, especially in these tough cases. Dr. Sabshin always looks at the big picture and knows that we just want BG to be happy. If he looks like an Opossum he looks like an Opossum 🤷‍♀️. Jaw fixtures range from $2,000-$4,000. Being that he is blind and cannot blink (causing ulcers and pain) this cost could be up to $1,500 more if his eyes need removal. BG has overcome SO much we cannot deny him anything he needs, however right now we are actually NEGATIVE in our bank account for the rescue… Please help us make sure BG continues to thrive! He deserves the world. We REALLY need your help, shares, and donations to make this possible for him!

And for his BIG announce, he is FEEDING TUBE free! What an amazing feat for a cat that couldn’t move for WEEKS. This cat is ameowzing!

Blanche is asking for your help! She is about 6-8 years old and has an oral mass and severe dental issues. She has trouble eating food, but is currently eating blended wet food and doing well all things considered! She needs dental and the remainder of her mass removed ASAP so she can be comfortable. She also needs a feeding tube placed at the same time as the removal of the mass as it will be complicated due to the location under her tongue but also involving her tongue. Complications will occur and despite the mass being benign it will continue growing causing pain and discomfort if not fully removed. The shelter we took her from debulked the mass and it is NOT cancerous… However, we pulled Blanche before the fire. Sadly, one of our foster homes, our president and founder’s home, had a fire not long ago. While the fire was contained to an unused oven full of plastic dishes, the smoke spread throughout the house and was very thick… None of the smoke detectors went off and have since been replaced. All the kitties are okay, but our president suffered smoke inhalation injuries. She also pays a lot of the rescue bills when we don’t have the funds available through donations… Since she missed work for quite a few days we really are short on funds that we planned to have for Blanche. Her surgery is likely to cost about $2,000 (estimate in comments). She was at Plummer Pet Hospital today and it was about $400 for the visit, medication, and testing she needs before surgery. So ideally we need to raise $2,500 for Blanche to recover. She has a LONG life ahead of her and right now we do not have the funds we normally do for her needed surgery… Please consider donating for her surgery! We also are in need of dry adult food! I have attached our chewy wishlist if you would like to donate! Best is Friskies adult food or Iam’s healthy adult.

Sakura has a big day tomorrow! We haven't officially introduced her yet as we've been debating what is right for her and tomorrow is her big surgery. She came from a shelter in Tampa with severe rear limb deformities bilaterally... Her hips are almost at the top of her pelvis, her knees and ankles don't bend at all, and her ankles are backwards resulting in painful ambulation. After discussing options of bilateral fho and a year of PT on a cat that came in TERRIFIED of humans knowing she would be in for a year of pain at the hands of humans to "help" while not offering her much, if any, increased mobility we decided on the only viable option for Sakura based on a multitude of factors... Tomorrow she undergoes a bilateral rear leg amputation. We didn't take this decision lightly. However, it is in Sakura's best interest. We will allow her to heal and teach her new ways to get around while not having legs that constantly cause pain for her to be in the way. Sakura is coming around emotionally as well. She's not a mean cat, she's actually very loving, but at only 9 months old she is terrified of humans. However, we have really gained her trust and she adores us so we couldn't be happier with her emotional progress. Her estimate for tomorrow is about $2,000 and we will I do our own PT to build her upper body strength and teach her to walk differently, but we will also consult with a specialist to make sure we give her all the right tools to thrive in her new life. We are here for the long run for Sakura! If you'd like to help her with her next chapter please share and donate if you can!

Leonardo still needs our help... However, he did amazing at the vet yesterday! We can never thank Plummer Pet Hospital enough for continuing to take our drop offs in stride and fix them up same day. It's not an easy job being our most used Rescue vet, but they take on that challenge without complaint (though I'm sure they might have words behind the scenes LOL). Sadly, the night we took Leonardo in his feeding tube was lodged in his throat and mouth causing vomit/regurgitation. Due to the discomfort it was causing being in his throat/mouth and the fact we couldn't use the tube as it was we decided to pull it out. A simple check up for prescription food turned in to two wound debridements/repairs, and a feeding tube placement 😑. While under anesthesia for the tube placement and wound debridement the doctor noticed his degloved jaw repair was slipping. When she clipped the sutures there was even more infection, sloughing of the tissue, and necrosis... That was the second wound repair. Again they took this all in stride and just said it's a Happy Tailz Cat 😅. We do have a reputation to uphold 🤷‍♀️. Thankfully he did amazing under anesthesia and recovered well. He also received an antibiotic injection, nausea injection, anti-inflammatory injection, and pain medication. Bloodwork and a culture of the infected wounds were sent out as well. Thankfully, he is a new cat today! He's rolling over for belly rubs, has had 4 tube feedings, is asking for attention, and even meowed! While he has a very long road ahead and needs his jaw fixed still, he has improved so much in the 48 hours we've had him. A lot can change with the right care! He was also sent home with another antibiotic, continuing Cerenia for nausea, and continuing Meloxicam (anti-inflammatory). All-in-all since much more than expected was completed yesterday our total came to about $1,200. For everything Leonardo had done, we can't complain! It was about $450 more than what our worst case was though, so if you are able to share or donate, we would really appreciate it! Currently we are looking into options to repair his severely broken jaw as well. If you know anyone in the St. Pete/Tampa/Sarasota area that might be able to help, please let us know!!

The total for yesterday us in the comments as well as jaw/skull rads.

Minion is going to show you what she looked like when we took her in over the next few days! We really need everyone's help raising enough money for her refill of Posaconazole to continue fighting her CNS fungal Cryptococcus. Please see our last post for more info as we went into a bit of detail, but MANY failed treatments later, a CT, surgical debulking, and more, we are finally seeing improvement in her Titers! Please share and donate if you can! We need to raise $1400 $[÷ her refill. We raised about $500 yesterday so we need an additional $900. Please help Minion continue her fight!

We never know how to start some of these posts… As you know we do our absolute BEST to vet our adopters, but sometimes that isn’t enough. We adopted out Katniss, a kitty who came in and underwent an enucleation and treatment for a URI, a couple months ago and she was fully healed and doing amazing! Unfortunately, we found out from a neighbor that Katniss was outside looking quite sick… Per our contract our cats are to be indoors only. We managed to go and get her, but the owners have not responded and have blocked us… Katniss must have gotten into a fight with another cat as her orbit is now completely wide open and she will need surgery ASAP to fix it. As soon as we got her we did B12, fluids, and Capstar. She had significant bleeding from her orbit as we cleaned and flushed the area, but none sense. She needs help as soon as possible. She is eating/drinking and doing much better now, not even 24 hours later. But Katniss doesn’t have time to wait before infection and severe illness sets in. Katniss really needs our help once again! Please consider a donation to help Katniss heal once again! She has been failed again… This time, somehow, we managed to fail her. We don’t know what we missed as background check, vet check, and references were great, but Katniss is now paying for it. Please help! Actual photo in comments, view with discretion.
