We wanted to share the news about an exciting rebate available for Interceptor Plus (ICP) and Credelio purchased at the clinic. When you buy a six-month supply of ICP & Credelio between Jan. 1, 2024 through Dec. 31, 2024, you are eligible to receive a $50 rebate.

ICP and Credelio is the best protection for fleas, ticks, heart worm prevention, roundworm, hookworm, and tapeworm dewormer available for dogs currently.

The clinic will be closed Tuesday, January 16th due to the incoming freezing rain and residual ice on the ground. We are checking and responding to clients to the best of our ability remotely. We plan to resume business Wednesday, January 17th. There may be a late start depending on road conditions.

The clinic will be closed Monday, January 15th due to the inclement weather conditions. We will reevaluate tomorrow and hope to reopen Tuesday.

Reports of an "outbreak" of some as yet unidentified canine respiratory illness are scaring dog owners. But veterinarians and researchers aren't panicking.

A reminder to protect your dogs against heartworm disease. This disease is transmitted by mosquitoes with silent symptoms. Yearly testing and year round prevention is recommended to keep your pets protected.

It is with profound sadness we share that our beloved Dr. Darcy Smith passed away on Tuesday, September 12th.

Dr. Darcy was a highly skilled veterinarian who dedicated her life to Veterinary Medicine, her family, and her many many interests.

She was an accomplished equestrian, cross country skier, traveler, rock climber and so much more. Darcy absolutely adored her daughter, Emily, and was her mom, friend and biggest fan & cheerleader!

Darcy was a fantastic mentor and co-worker. She and her husband, Richard Hillmer worked side by side in practice for several decades. The huge impact and benefits of their love for the Salem community & Veterinary Medicine is unending.

Darcy is survived by her husband, daughter Emily and extended family. If you feel so inclined to donate in memorial of Darcy, her family suggests the Boys & Girls Club, Family Building Blocks or Marion Polk Food Share in lieu of flowers.

We ask you keep her family in your thoughts and prayers ❤️

These Maine C**n kittens were in for their physical examinations and wellness care last week. Five girls 💕 They have excellent genetics with French heritage. Their parents are gorgeous too!

Most of the kittens have a forever home but one of the red girls may still available(as of Friday). If interested call the clinic & we can connect you.

Phoebe, an adorable pug pup, came to see Dr. B for her first wellness exam. She is a very blessed pup to have been adopted by an incredibly loving family!

Fourth of July is almost here and the team wants to remind you to keep your safe. Keep them away from BBQ's and food items that could cause GI upset or obstruction, such as corn cobs. Many pets are scared with firework lights and sounds. We recommend keeping them indoors with ambient noise (tv or music) on, close curtains, keep them in the center of your living area away from doors/windows, and calming medications for those pets that need it.

The clinic will be open Monday, July 3rd 7:30am-6pm. We will be CLOSED on Tuesday, July 4th so all the team members can spend it with family & friends. We will reopen Wednesday, July 5th at 7:30am. If you have an emergency please contact Salem Veterinary Emergency Clinic at 503-588-8082.

Quick reminder to check your pets paws after being outside for grass awns(foxtails) and other material that can harm their paws. Grass awns are a common problem this time of year!

WebMD explains the serious risks of a dog's encounter with foxtrail grass, which has seeds that can burrow into your dog's feet, eyes, ears, nose, mouth and even brain.

Fourth of July is going to be here before we know it. If your pet has noise phobia or anxiety, please remember to contact Oak Hills Veterinary & Salem Cat Clinic now about calming options. If your pet has not had treatment before, sometimes it’s necessary do a trial before the fireworks begin as each pet is different. We do ask that you allow 24-48 hours for prescriptions to be filled.

Please check that your pets ID tags are current in case they become frightened and escape. Keep corn cobs, bones and high fatty foods out of reach during the BBQ’s as they can lead to surgery and GI distress.

We wish to help make this Fourth of July 🇺🇸 celebration one that is comfortable for all! Watching out for all our patients and friends. We hope you all have a happy and safe celebration!

As we remember and honor all those who lost their lives protecting our country. We wish you a very safe Memorial Day weekend!

Our clinic will be closed until Tuesday, May 30th so our team may enjoy the holiday weekend with family & friends. If you have an emergency, please contact Salem Veterinary Emergency Clinic at 503-588-8082. They are open 24 hrs until Tuesday morning.

It is also a good time to remind you of the hidden dangers as BBQ season lights up! Please remember to keep corn cobs (both eaten and leftover) out of reach of dogs. They love to eat them but will often obstruct their intestines leading to surgery. Bones are another danger. Bones can fracture teeth as well as becoming an intestinal obstruction. Foods that are rich or high in fats can lead to pancreatitis.

So as you set out to enjoy this wonderful weekend, please remember to be mindful of your pets and keep them safe from these potential dangers!

This is Candy, isn’t she beautiful?
She came in for her annual examination last week and we had to congratulate both her and her owner.

Are you able to appreciate how white and clean her teeth are?! They committed to brushing teeth 2 years ago. You read that right….it has been 2 years since her last professional oral assessment and treatment ✨ This improves oral and metabolic health and reduces the frequency of professional treatments!

We had to celebrate their success and share what is possible with home dental care!
