Around 300 acres were burned at the hay field near Guthrie. It was the main food supplier for Risley’s rescue operation. Many of the property owner’s tractors and equipment, used to cut and bale the hay, were also destroyed.

I am SO SO sorry but I can NOT take any dogs. My advice: contact the St Louis humane society. Or take the dog/dogs to your local veterinarian's office for euthanasia. Yes. I do know how hard it is out there. We fill it as well. We are in the hole here. Donations are hard to come by. Thank you so much to those who do support our mission. I need to focus on getting another group of donkeys ready to travel out of state to their new destinations. I am SO very tired these days. I can't do much physically anymore. Thankful hubby is home to pretty much take care of everything. It's been such an interesting ride. This thing called rescue. It is most definitely an eye opener on human nature. Please respect us as we continue towards closing. And please support rescue. Thank you all again!

Bruno is looking for his Virtual Parents!

Bruno came to PPDR as an owner surrender—a horse person who loved him dearly but wanted him to have the donkey companionship he deserved. And he found exactly that in Ajax! These two have been inseparable ever since, always side by side, whether it’s exploring the pasture, sharing snacks, or just enjoying the sunshine together.
Seeing friendships like this form reminds us why donkeys thrive when they have their own kind. Bruno may have lost his first home, but he gained a lifelong friend. 💛 This is a picture of Bruno when he first arrived. He was a character then and continues to be today.

I had to sit and listen to all the happy crunch and munch this evening. This is what it's all about. IMHO. Repairing a few from their trials and tribulations this world puts on them.❤️

It was such a beautiful day today. I think it got up to about 80 degrees! They say winter will be returning though. And with a vengeance. I am already wishing for spring. And for green grass to grow. But we have a couple months yet of winter. People keep asking me whatbwill I do when my Pastures no longer have bouncing running happy equines on it. I will.miss them all of course but I am confident that those leaving me will be going to good places. Answered prayers! I am so relieved of that! ❤️

This is a sweet john. Sue Boy. He is about the only donkey i have here who would be OK as a companion for a horse. He likes to run and play still so I am thinking he is probably still on the younger side. No goats or sheep though. He tries to play with them too and gets to rough. We just pulled his coggins too. Checking on everyone. It's warmer today and going to be much warmer tomorrow. Then bitter cold next week. Can't thank everyone enough for the messages of a home for some of the donkeys. And to the rescues that are stepping up to take some! Pray that we can get them all to a safe place and good homes from there! ❤️
