The 4th of July is coming, if you have a pet that is scared of fireworks now is the time to get your medication requests in.
Some helpful tips for your pets during fireworks:
•Keep your pets secured INSIDE your home. Even dogs in fenced yards find ways to escape the scary sounds.
•Give them a safe place to hide. Set up a comfortable room or crate in your house just for them.
•Use ambient noise to mask the noise. A radio or TV playing comforting music works well.
•Update their IDs & microchips (just in case).
Skip the celebration and stay home with them. Sometimes your presence makes all the difference.
•Keep them busy.
Treat toys, like Kongs, can help distract them during the display.
With temperatures in our area reaching over 90 degrees the next few days please protect your pets from the dangers of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Our pets don't have the ability to sweat like we do to help keep them cool--Remember to never leave them in the car, caution in walking them on hot surfaces, limit exercise in this heat, and always make sure there is shelter from the sun and fresh water available at all times--please bring them inside if possible to help keep them cool. If your pet is showing any signs of distress from the heat seek Veterinary attention immediately!!

Due to the upcoming prediction of a storm, the office may be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please contact the office if you have any questions today we will have a receptionist there to answer calls. ❄️🐾
Just a reminder. Staff will be out of the office some days next week for continuing education. The office will be closed Monday January 15th and Wednesday January 17th. There will be staff available Tuesday January 16th and Thursday January 18th to answer phone calls and for prescription/food pick ups. There will be a Doctor back in the office January 19th for Friday morning appointments. Thank you!!

January 5th, 6th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 20th.
We will have relief Veterinarians here on:
January 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 19th.
The week of the 15th there will be no one in the office due to staff also being at continuing education on the 15th and 17th. On the 16th, 18th, and 20th there will be someone in the office to answer phone calls.
We will be closed Monday January 1st for New Years and will open back up on Tuesday the 2nd.

If you are a pet owner, there's no doubt you've encountered ticks. Especially living in West Virginia, we have a plethora of wildlife to carry them. Which in turn can affect our our beloved pets.

REAL and came off live people/dogs.
Imagine trying to find that size tick on the far left in the fur of your pup and very possibly your cat. It's not going to be easy. This is why your veterinarians stress about proper flea and tick prevention. Our clinic has seen over 90 cases of Lyme disease this year. Not including two other tick borne diseases that we screen for, Ehrlichiosis and Anaplasmosis. We haven't been seeing much success with the over the counter flea and tick medications, so we recommend names like Nexgard, Bravecto, Seresto collars, Simparica (buying from .................
reputable site) and there are more! We are asking pet owners to keep their pets on YEAR ROUND flea and tick prevention, because ticks are not dying off in the winter, they are affecting our animals just as much in the cold months as in the warm. So don't wait! Get your pet on flea and tick prevention today!!
